    • bridgerton ➀ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ nice setting, some beautiful visuals and costuming, not bad characters. however, cliché writing and many cringey moments cheapened the show.
  • february:
    • attack on titan 進撃の巨人 ➀ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ i love the concept and i'm glad i finally am watching the pop culture marvel that is this show, and it makes me want to cry .. laugh .. all of the above. however, some parts like the time skip were abrupt; i think it worked for the manga but came across as a bit sudden on the show. either way, i can't wait to see what happens in season 2! + one of the most iconic ops.
    • attack on titan 進撃の巨人 ➁ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ i'm putting this in february even though i finished it march 1st because i watched most of it in february lol :o i started this show with so many questions that i thought would get answered soon and now i have so many more. it feels like aot is getting better and better and i'm at the edge of my seat to see what happens next. i think the story developed quite nicely and is better fleshed out so i really enjoy it so far + one of the best openings ever.
  • march:
    • attack on titan 進撃の巨人 ➂ pt. 1 ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ i thought things couldn't get more amazing and crazy but they did. i'm so so happy to finally get more focus on ymir and krista in this season because i love them so much and they're so interesting as characters (foils of each other). i really like how the story is developing, but i feel as though some parts were convoluted. i still really enjoyed it and the major plot points were cool to see play out. throughout all of aot, the episodes are just so addicting and propel the story on in an enthralling way.
    • attack on titan 進撃の巨人 ➂ pt. 2 ⋅ ★★★★★ ⋅ every new part of this show continues to impress me in different ways. i love it so much and i think season 3 was the perfect closing before we move on to the next portion of the story. part 2 is perhaps the more impactful half of season 3, but part 1 was necessary in building everything up, so i think the two work well together. also.. i'm obsessed with this opening.
    • the promised neverland 約束のネバーランド ➀ ⋅ ★★★★½ ⋅ when i think about this show it's really hard for me to find anything to criticize. the characters are compelling, the world is insane, and the story is so interesting. the writers really knew how to make this show addictive and the relationships they've created between all of the characters are captivating and has made me feel attached to the kids and their journey.
    • death parade デス・パレード ⋅ ★★★★★ ⋅ this show was fantastic and really made me think about life and death in a different way. it involved so many complex emotions and really delivered the main theme so well, and i loved the relationship between the two mains so much. i was sad to see there wasn't a season 2 at first but after seeing how the show came to a close i feel satisfied. it has funny and lighthearted moments even with the gloom, and is everything i look for in an anime. definitely will be one of my favorites for a long while!
  • april:
    • attack on titan 進撃の巨人 ➃ pt. 1 ⋅ ★★★★½ ⋅ this season is a great culmination of everything that has happened in the show so far. with every few episodes, we see the narrative flip from side to side, giving empathy to the same people we and the main characters saw as purely villains. although there was hints of this in season 3, it really comes to a head here as friends against friends are constantly pitted against each other at multiple levels of the story. the hype was insane and each episode left me at the edge of my seat, and the deeper implications of the show have become ever more clear with the switching perspective and insight into some character's wider backstory.
    • k-on! けいおん! ➀ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ super cute and a pleasant show to watch, i really like the animation style and the girls are so sweet and adorable. some fan service moments were flagrant and not in good taste though, could've definitely done without them.
    • fullmetal alchemist brotherhood 鋼の錬金術師 ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ everyone has recommended this show and it's a long watch but definitely worth it, especially if you like shonen. i absolutely love the characters, and especially the relationship between the elric brothers and how they act as foils to one another. although the show receives well-deserved high praises, i feel as though some parts did not draw me in as much personally. still, i found myself happy to relax by watching new episodes. i am here to defend roy mustang on the internet. ♡
  • may:
    • wonder egg priority ワンダーエッグ・プライオリティ ➀ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ great themes, beautiful visuals, and amazing characters but ultimately very squandered potential
    • sword art online ソードアート・オンライン ➀ ⋅ ★☆☆☆☆ ⋅ the concept itself is something that really captured my attention, and it is genuinely a good idea for a show, but the execution was all wrong and was very disappointing. my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. will not be continuing this show. i had so much hope for it but god that execution and the fan service is repulsive.
    • élite ➀ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ forgot how awesome this show was, it may just seem like another teen drama but something about it really draws you in, and i love the themes of the show. team lucrecia forever!!!
    • kakegurui 賭ケグルイ ➀ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ i love this show.. the suspense it creates is so good and each gambling match is so creative and fun to watch unfold, even when I knew what would happen, a testament to how powerful the tension in this show can be. also so many ships and i love this show's soundtrack. ♡
    • élite ➁ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ improves even more on the first season, includes a good balance of fun and enjoyable scenes mixed with serious issues, amazing tension that keeps you hooked, and (spoiler for the end of the season) the twist with samu and guzmán was totally unexpected the first time.
    • élite ➂ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ rewatching has has made me even more excited for season 4, and like season 2, it's basically an improvement on the show as a whole. some highlights.. i think it's awesome how the show cuts from present to past as usual but this time it shows how the relationships have "changed," the show gets more confusing with every new testimony which is great, carla!!!! the blackout club scene is iconic, and you get really invested in all the different intertwining storylines. and of course.. the ending :( really emotional impactful. overall, it's easy to see the good and bad in every character, the show makes it clear that no one is perfect with a lot of grey morality, but they all come together in the end (though it's still quite heartbreaking).
  • june:
    • horimiya ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ i find this show a bit hard to rate because i really loved the concept at first, especially the dynamic between hori and miyamura. it felt quite unique and i found it super cute. the show has some really funny moments, and its a great show overall if you want a quick, light anime. once the show finished, looking back i found the relationship had a few strange moments (and not the kind that are like aww cute awkward crush stuff) .. for example (spoiler!!!) they already were okay with saying they wanted to be married to each other but miyamura wouldn't stand up against others for hori and let her walk behind him in the cold. it's not a huge complaint and the anime was still very enjoyable, but it was things like that i found fell flat for me. for a show that is meant to be slice of life, small gestures like that are important because the show is all about relationships, so it was a shame to see things play out that way. i know the show is meant to be light and it's supposed to jump from plot point to plot point, but i felt slightly unsatisfied when yuki's and sakura's stories ended a bit short. this is probably due to the fact that they emulated the manga, but i just wish we could have seen a bit more. i think it's good for what it is but could have had some improvements, i would still watch again.
    • élite ➃ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ i was a bit disappointed by this season in comparison to the rest because a lot of elements felt forced. some spoilers up ahead! it felt like the show included sex just for the sake of it more than ever this season, but to the point where it actually harmed the plot instead of accented it or improved it. samu and carla's relationship was central to past seasons and guzmán and nadia went through hell for their relationship, so the fact that it culminated into nothing for this season (well, an abrupt love triangle) really made the past seasons seem almost meaningless. due to that.. i would like to see this season as in an alternate universe or something. it just felt like they broke up important relationships in the show just to create drama for this season, which may be entertaining but it was definitely not as good as the rest of the show. a lot of things didn't make any sense; there was so many moments where the characters had me thinking .. why are you doing that?! .. for example, ander acting totally out of character. the relationship between ander, patrick, and omar in general felt shoehorned in. however, this season brought some great things! great music, amazing use of colored lighting, the styling! i loved ari as a character as well and i liked the relationship between ari and mencía.
    • jujutsu kaisen 呪術廻戦 ➀ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ a really great shounen, i loved the mix of comedic moments and hard-hitting action scenes, and the relationships between all the characters are a delight to watch. i love how the female characters are written! also both openings are some of the most beautiful i've ever seen and the soundtrack is fantastic. this show is great at tugging on your emotions one moment and then making you laugh the next. it has lots of potential but one complaint i'll bring up is that the plot was sort of all over the place. still, am looking forward to the next season!
    • the promised neverland 約束のネバーランド ➁ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ i haven't read the manga for the promised neverland so the fact that a portion was skipped did not have a huge effect on my watching experience, but it definitely felt like a piece was missing and that was hard to ignore. (spoilers ahead!) when the time skip happened, it felt abrupt.. and then at the end when the two groups split off into the human and monster world, we miss a lot of possible plot points again. part of me was glad we could see it all in a happy montage and not have to see the kids suffer anymore, but at the same time it almost felt like we were missing half the show. because of that i have mixed feelings, but this season really had some emotional moments that made me feeling a connection to the characters and their pain. (spoiler!) i really enjoyed seeing the main three together again, and the kindness and bravery of all the kids in this show is something of real inspiration. this show, more specifically this season, could have benefitted from a 24 episode run. i think it would have fleshed out the story more if there was more time, but with its 11 episodes there was never a boring moment and no filler so it's hard to choose which would be better. as someone who hasn't read the manga, i quite liked it, but now the promised neverland is on my reading list so i can see what i missed!
  • july:
    • pretty little liars ➂ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ i don't know what they put in this show but it is so hard to stop watching. every episode is very entertaining, and even on my second rewatch the shocking moments still hit hard.
    • death note デスノ一ト ★★★★½ top tier anime, transformative, and just genius. i would recommend this to lovers of drama and thrillers, but honestly anyone. death note is fantastic. i only docked a few points because of how the female characters were used as props a lot of the time in this show. (vague spoiler) it could be thematically significant because light obviously uses them to his own gain, but there was still a way to show that while also giving them more depth. everything else is spectacular. i was glued to the screen every episode and every moment i was wondering what was going to happen next.
    • kamisama kiss 神様はじめました ➀ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ this show is a great light watch. at first i had some trouble getting into it but midway through i found myself wanting to discover more of the story. nanami is a great character. season 2 is on my list!
    • pretty little liars ➃ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ i really enjoyed the thrill of this season, and the show in general does a great job of mixing comical moments and romantic ones while always going back to scenes that will make you jump out of your seat. a big spoiler up ahead! if you plan on watching, don't continue reading. one drawback for me was the illogical termination of spencer's theory about ezra. the girls were about five minutes away from deciding ezra was almost certainly A, and then they find out he's been writing a book on their lives and using all of them and drop it. i feel like the fizzling out of that theory was just created to make the show longer. i still really liked the season, but they could have definitely handled this part better!
    • k-on! けいおん! ➁ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ same as the first season, it's very cute and the animation is pleasant, didn't like the fan service. it's good for the show it's meant to be, the rest is cute and great music!
    • pretty little liars ➄ ⋅ ★★★½☆ ⋅ once again, it's the kind of show you can't stop watching because you need to know what happens next. though there are missteps, like the number of accidental kisses being almost comically often, the mix between the girls daily lives and shocking moments struck a good balance again. that ending though!
    • pretty little liars ➅ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ (major spoilers) that time jump was quite a bit jarring but it's understandable and it was time for the story (and opening sequence!) to have a bit of a refresher. although it was awkwardly placed halfway through the season, 6a was quite thrilling and 6b felt a bit calmer with some lingering danger. nice to see the liars grow up and what kind of lives they are leading as adults.
  • august:
    • pretty little liars ➆ ⋅ ★★☆☆☆ ⋅ what in the ridiculous
    • outer banks ➁ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ groovy, better than i thought but has really devolved into absurdity
  • september:
    • marriage or mortgage ➀ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ smart to blend wedding reality stuff and home reality stuff into one
    • schitt’s creek ➀ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ people have really hyped this show up as one of the greatest so i think my expectations were set a little high. it’s definitely funny but i was expecting to be laughing out loud every episode because of the reviews, will keep watching for the characters though!
    • squid game ➀ ⋅ ★★★★½ ⋅ amazing, gripping show.. i think everyone already knows what’s so fantastic about it so if you haven’t watched it yet and you don’t mind some gore and heartbreaking sadness… watch it!!!!
  • october:
    • schitt’s creek ➁ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ pretty much the same commentary as season 1.
    • you ➂ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ i love this show! the acting, the characters, the way the show is filmed.. everything! the writers are so skillful at making you hate the main characters and almost wish things would work out for them at the same time. has such amazing sequences that keep you on edge the whole season! however, it does not hit as hard as season 1 and even season 2 in some ways, also gets a bit repetitive.
    • schitt’s creek ➂ ⋅ ★★½☆☆ ⋅ there is some funny moments in schitt's creek... but for me it seems repetitive and kind of boring at this point.
    • dynasty ➃ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ this show is so very soap-opera and often stupid, but so entertaining! i love the ridiculous twists and something about the show gives me a cozy vibe, it somehow helps me relax. i feel conflicted about the random singing sequences because i love liz's voice but it's always shoehorned in. this season builds on the ridiculousness even more than past seasons but i think it's what the show is meant to be. i would enjoy if there was a few more grounded moments like (spoiler!) the relationship struggles between fallon and liam and anders' death.
  • november:
    • gilmore girls ➀ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ pure show with good vibes, i love how it highlights the relationship between rory and lorelai. will keep watching for sure to see more of how i feel about it.
    • girls planet 999 ⋅ i feel very conflicted about this show. i couldn't get through the long episodes every week so i opted to watch summary videos instead. i think it says a lot about how the long run time of the show makes it difficult to keep up with. it feels as though the episodes were very long but didn't show nearly enough at the same time. in terms of the results, i couldn't help but be disappointed because my top pick, yurina, didn't get in. even so, i will definitely follow kep1er to see how it goes.
  • december:
    • gilmore girls ➁ ⋅ ★★★☆☆ ⋅ more of the same from season 1! i enjoy it but one thing i can say is that it gets a little boring sometimes, but that makes it a comfy cozy show to watch in the background. i guess i can see why a lot of people like it but i also kinda can't. it may just not be the show for me.
    • modern family ➀ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ this show is so funny and stupid i love it.
    • modern family ➁ ⋅ ★★★★☆
    • the witcher ➀ ⋅ ★★★★☆ ⋅ on rewatch this season is a lot less confusing and i can really appreciate the 3 converging timelines, it is so well done. that first episode is just chef's kiss. amazing soundtrack! i would’ve loved to see more of yennefer at court and i have to say that the relationship between yennefer and geralt feels very rushed, though i think it was supposed to be. still, it would be nice to see more development outside of sex scenes so we can see the basis of their actual connection in the show.
    • the witcher ➁ ⋅ ★★★½☆
    • making the witcher: season 2
