- I don't know if this is particular to my phone, but it's a bit laggy.
- Very little customization.
- As far as I know, I can't change the sound of my text message alert. It's either on or off.
- I can't disable auto-capitalization. It's silly, but I prefer texting in lowercase.
- Only ten (!!!) preset ringtones. I can easily import my own, but still.
- Sending a text before I'm done typing is too easy. And I can't cancel outgoing messages.
- I can't draft text messages.
- People sound terrible on speaker phone.
- Lacks applications. Hopefully this changes once more time has passed. I would like to see:
- a tip calculator,
- a currency converter,
- a units converter,
- a voice recorder.
- I can't delete pre-installed applications. Why would I need, or want, to know NASCAR stats?!
- Hardly any games. I can't believe I'm even complaining about this.
- No cursor controls. You know, the up-down-left-right buttons. Sure, I can tap anywhere on the screen, but it's so imprecise!
- Camera has no special effects.
- No video recording.
- The battery is atrocious.
For $300 before rebate, I was expecting a little more. What I should have done: get a cheap phone and an iPod Touch, maybe?
So here are my findings from a side-by-side comparison of the iPhone and Pre:
- The Pre's camera is far superior.
- But the iPhone has video recording.
- Both have screens with great clarity.
- The Pre is so much sexier and feels better in my hand.
- The Pre has a physical QWERTY keyboard.
- But sliding the phone open can be a hassle.
- The Pre allows for multi-tasking. I can have multiple applications open at once, much like a computer.
- The Pre lets me rearrange my menu, grouping by category and placing the most used applications first.
- The Pre lets me drag and drop files directly to the phone.
- If I'm not mistaken, files uploaded onto the iPhone must go through iTunes.
- The iPhone has an infinite number of applications, including those I wish were on the Pre.
- The iPhone has a timer and stopwatch.
- The iPhone is faster.
- The iPhone lets me customize just about everything.
- But no wallpaper like on the Pre?
- AT&T's plan is a little more pricey compared to Sprint's.
I don't know. I'm torn.
