- if you rely on one person for your happiness, you will feel heartbroken when they are not there anymore.
- try not to rely on anyone, period - strive for independence. being tied to others seems nice in theory, but things get messy sometimes and it's better for you to have your own things.
- be a kind person. know your limits, and communicate your needs, but try to be nice.
- often attachments are the simply result of hormones. our bodies release bonding hormones. sometimes that's the only thing that is attaching us to a person, or the idea of a person. when i's over, we feel their absence like a drug withdraw because in a sense, it is however, thankfully, it takes about a month for those hormones to wear off.
- any subsequent anguish is a result of overthinking about the situation, wishing things were different, rather than simply accepting that they were never going to be more than what they are at that moment.
- don't be a pushover. if someone crosses you, is rude to you, mistreats you, or is being a jerk - tell them off!
