It was an impromptu decision to go stargazing this morning, but I can't say that I regret it. It felt nice outside, with a little bit of a breeze.

  • Date: October 29, 2023
  • Time: 2:00 - 3:30 AM, roughly
  • Location: local graveyard, in the back.
    • It's new, the first people only being buried within the past ten years or so-ish, so there's a good chunk of land in the back. I laid down on the grass.
  • Moon: Full
    • Naturally, conditions weren't optimal for stargazing, and it took me several minutes in the beginning to adjust to the brightness of the Moon. Eventually I did, and once I did, I could make out some of the stars better.
  • Constellations
    • Taurus, right above me
    • Orion, slightly to the left
    • Canis Major, to the left of Orion
      • Sirius
    • Auriga
    • Cassiopeia, far up above -- I had to crane my neck to see her
  • Planet Spotted: Jupiter, by the Moon
  • Songs
    • Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
    • Vesperae solennes de confessore in C - Mozart
    • My Home - Yasuharu Takanashi
    • Witchi-Tai-To - Oregon
    • Songs of the Auvergne - Joseph Canteloube
      • Bailero
      • Netania Davrath
    • Robo Inferno - Yuki Hayashi
    • Requiem, Op. 48 In Paradisum - Gabriel Urbain Faure
    • Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
    • Dinosaur / Prehistoric music
    • Parade - Chaba
    • Band On the Run - Paul McCartney & Wings
    • Creature - Half-Alive
    • Across the Universe - Beatles
  • Substance of Choice: Coors Light. First time trying it. Had five bottles. It's okay.
  • Observations, Thoughts
    • A nice, cool breeze. I tend to like to be cold, to where I put off wearing jackets and long sleeve shirts as long as I can. It's perfect outside, at 68 degrees.
    • The Moon is so bright that I can hardly see anything, but I don't regret going out. I needed something to shake things up.
    • There are a few clouds above me, and for the first half of the time that I spent out there, they were covering up Queen Cassiopeia. Eventually they broke, but I remember thinking that at first they looked like a giant silver bat.
    • What's the star by the Moon? I'm sure it's not really a star.
      • Note: I was right, it was Jupiter.
    • I feel like a kicked dog that's been kicked too many times.
    • I need to try to re-remember the things that make me happy, that are beautiful.
