- I ship Battleshipping primarily as all of them in their mid-20s at least, probably even late 20s, Seto has gone to create Kaiba Land in the United States and has returned, Atem is long gone, and each has had his own time to progress his own character.
- Yuugi is significantly stronger mentally and emotionally and has taken the break to be less worthless in school and he has enough confidence to do more things on his own. I see Atem and Jounouchi as having been very fond of one another and I think that Katsuya would suffer the loss of a friend and someone he deeply admired when Atem left. Katsuya and Yuugi were already very close friends and the loss of Atem is something they could support each other with because I figure they would both miss him a lot.
- I mainly see Yuugi and Katsuya being sexually interested in women, but romantically attached to the people they are closest to, and in this case, each other. Particularly with this ship, I feel Katsuya and Yuugi would be very casual about their sex life together because they’re best friends. They can experiment and try new things together and not be scared of the other being horrified or disgusted because they accept each other so readily. They can laugh about it and just enjoy the extra intimacy of their friendship. With Anzu gone to the United States to become a dancer and his other half gone, Yuugi will probably appreciate having Katsuya around even more. I see Honda as noticing that Katsuya has become closer to Yuugi than he has, so he would drift more towards Bakura and Otogi for friendship, but that he and Katsuya would still be close— just not as close as Katsuya and Yuugi.
- I ship puppyshipping late post-canon initially; I think Katsuya would mature over time and his desire to constantly improve himself and become something Yuugi respects would do really well for him. Having someone supportive like Yuugi around for so long would improve his self-esteem and his productivity and character would develop, too.
- Seto, having progressed much in the way of getting over his grudge against Gozaburo, and gaining time away from dueling through his extensive trip to the United States, would be happy to be home, but feel the distinction of Mokuba’s aging and have to come to terms with him leaving the nest. In addition, Seto would have to discover that Atem is gone, and I think he would take the blow of that just as hard, if not harder, than Yuugi himself.
- He respected Atem immensely, at times calling him the only one Seto himself considered a real duelist, and despite that I don’t think Seto would duel very much post-canon, especially trying to expand KaibaCorp. and build Kaiba Land abroad, he would still feel the sting of never getting the opportunity to actually beat Atem in a duel.
- That would turn him to Yuugi. It would probably deeply disturb him to be around Yuugi at first, but Yuugi did beat Atem after all, which he would discover at some point or another. That means Yuugi is stronger than Atem was, and I think that Seto would still be willing to respect Yuugi because that notion of strength is undeniable. I think Seto’s attraction for Atem, even at the most basic and non-romantic of levels, was a very strong attachment and it would be hard for Seto to break away from Yuugi altogether.
- Also, upon Seto’s return, Seto would be less inspired to bait Katsuya and Katsuya would be less ready to bite. Seto would still be largely indifferent, but through whatever encounters they experience together, Seto would find that Katsuya had matured, become stronger, and was somehow less obnoxious but still completely Katsuya. Seto himself will be calmer. Not less domineering or controlling in nature, but less excitable and less ready to start fights, especially due to his new experiences and the loss of Atem.
- I think puppyshipping would happen first. I don’t feel Katsuya is sexually interested in males, but would come to enjoy Seto just for Seto, and accept that his body is a part of him. I think because of his heteronormative view of sex, he would be much more comfortable being dominant in the bedroom. Furthermore, I see Seto as an implied homosexual because he recognizes very few women (Ishizu being the only one he seems to pay any mind to) and typically males tend to represent positions of power and authority. This would attract him more to males. Women are assumed to be squishy and emotional and Seto doesn’t want anything to do with that, so he’d be a little sexist. His thoughts of Atem were completely consuming regardless of whether or not they were sexual. I don’t believe he would have any aversion to Katsuya’s body because Katsuya is physically fit and attractive and exerts dominance in his history of fighting males larger and presumably more capable than himself as well as his perseverance and desire to improve himself.
- A strong body and libido are not something Seto would shy away from, I don’t think, and Katsuya suits both. Also, Seto is controlling and dominating otherwise, but tends to be more erratic with his personal desires. He also lacks a history of social interaction and development (phases of life including orphanage, abuse, psychosis, coma, duelmeyuugi), so I think intimacy is not something he readily understands, nor is sex something he would go into immediately hoping to take the reigns of the situation. Sex is a person-by-person experience and he couldn’t really prepare himself completely for something he has no experience with, so I think he would prefer being dominated sexually. Seto also doesn’t show signs of hoping to please anyone but himself, and the aggressor (on top or bottom) is the one that does all the work. You please me is definitely a sexual stance I see Seto happy to take, and sitting still and letting someone else manipulate his body to please him is not something he would mind. (Although, I do think it would take a very long time and a very large grant of trust on Seto’s part before this happens.)
- However, the dynamic changes when it’s with Yuugi. Seto was attracted to Atem as a person, as a duelist— at the very least mentally very attracted, although I see it as being a latent physical and potential sexual attraction as well. I think Yuugi brings out the dominance in Seto and Seto would tend to top Yuugi more, although not always using penetration. I think Seto would have a healthy oral fixation and Katsuya’s physical fitness and enjoyment of making model figures would lend to big, dexterous hands. The Yuugi in this ship, to me personally, is older, but also has grown physically and has developed some semblance of physical strength thanks to hanging around Katsuya all the time. Yuugi is a people-pleaser and I don’t think that would change in a relationship, so he wouldn’t mind doing whatever the other two are comfortable with, but I don’t think penetration is common with Yuugi in general.
- Thus, Seto is fond of giving oral to either, receiving anally from Katsuya, and penetrating or otherwise to Yuugi; Katsuya is fond of giving manual to either, receiving anally from Yuugi possibly from experimentation but certainly not often, but more often than not mutual masturbation, and penetrating or otherwise to Seto; Yuugi is more fond of foreplay and mutual masturbation than anything, but isn’t really averse to giving or receiving as something that doesn’t happen all the time.
- So, Seto could use messy, needy people wandering around his house after Mokuba leaves. Katsuya and Yuugi love each other into the sun best friends or anything else, Seto respects Yuugi, Katsuya enjoys having to work to earn the respect of the people he’s around. They just work well together, I think. Yuugi is the supportive, strong, nurturing glue to Katsuya’s extrovert and low self-esteem and Seto’s introvert and high self-esteem.
