Eden is from the Hebrew עֵדֶן (ʿeḏen) meaning "pleasure, delight". It may also be derived from the Sumerian 𒂔 (edin) meaning "plain". In the Bible, the Garden of Eden is the original home of Adam and Eve before they were expelled due to disobedience to God.
