Eira is a modern Welsh name meaning “snow”. It has only recently come into use. It is also a form of the Norwegian Eir meaning “mercy”, after the Norse Goddess of healing and medicine.

I pronounce this name the way those in South Wales do, as EYE-ra. Jay pronounces it EEh-ra.
