Felix is from the Latin felix meaning "happy, fortunate, fruitful". It is a relic of Rome's origins as an agricultural community, as that which brings happiness is that which produces crops.

My dad's business partner was a man named Felix. He was a tough man to get along with but he always strove for excellence. I think he was a great guy and I enjoyed working with him. He wouldn't be the reason I chose Felix but he wouldn't deter me! I think he'd feel quite honored if he knew we had used it.
