Foster is from the Old English fostrian meaning "to supply with food, nourish, support". It is also a variant of Forester, of course meaning someone who was in charge of growing a timber forest from the Old French forest, from Latin forestam (silva) meaning "outer (wood)".
It is a new addition to my list, I'm just trying it out as I think it sits nicely with Hazel, Frances, and Sophia.
