Leda is a name of unknown meaning but it is thought to possibly mean "woman" or "happy" from the Latin laetus.
In the Greek myth Leda was a Spartan queen famed for her black hair and pale white skin. She was the mother of Castor, Pollux, Helen and Clytemnestra by the god Zeus, who came upon her in the form of a swan.
