• im 12 years old sitting on my bed reading it’s midnight it’s summer my window is open the crickets are very loud but very soothing my room smells dusty and warm and no one else exists. im 12 years old. the feeling never goes away.
    • concept: i am eleven years old and waving from a school bus to strangers. people glance up at me and scowl. they are too busy. a passing train: a woman catches my eye for a split second that will last forever in my mind and waves, keeps waving, even as she recedes into the distance. we both remember each other, and we both know there is no chance of reuniting. i still think of her
    • concept: we wake up one day and nature has grown decades overnight. we can’t remember where the roads used to be. in some places the trees are so tall and thick we can barely see sky. the grass hasn’t been mowed in years. how quiet everything is now
    • different kinds of tired:
    • 1. all day at the beach sleepy. warm skin. wet hair. salt and sand and green apple-scented shampoo. bed sheet tides pulling up and down stomach flips into mermaid dreams.
    • 2. milky tired. early nights. wondering if you are getting sick. medicine light bones. eyelids melting closed. dizzy, dizzy, spinning into sleep.
    • 3. drowsy car rides. soft radio buzz. pillow on the window. pulling on your seatbelt. waking up and not knowing where you are.
    • It’s so healing to wake up in a silent house and silently make your own coffee or tea and enjoy the beautifully intricate fullness of the morning silence while remaining calm and collected and unbothered by all outer and inner noise and it’s so low-key elevating and pacifying to rejoice in the silent atmosphere of your own house and just silently block the rest of the world…it’s a slice of heaven
