- scavenged art work adorning the walls
- chandeliers and old gas lamps
- fireplaces and wood-burning stoves
- cabinets of curiosity filled with treasures from many travels
- antique trunks and traveling chests filled with delightful things
- pretty patterned wallpaper and gauzy curtains
- a folding screen to dress behind
- a phonograph and a fabulous record collection
- more books than I know what to do with and large, comfy armchairs for reading them
- an old writing desk and typewriter for composing long letters
- plenty of natural light and an easel for painting
- the dust and patina of bygone eras
- a perpetual sense of warmth and nostalgia
- someplace I can see the stars
