• Five things 2019-2023

While preparing my next 101 in 1001 list, I may have stumbled upon my old five things lists and decided that I miss them somewhat, so here I am.

January⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀一月

• Spent some quality time with my mom during the New Year. Rewatched Rise of the Guardians after a long time, but I realised that the movie is a lot better in Portuguese. Went to the movie theatre with A., which, now I know, would soon become a mistake. Got my driver's license! Gabs and I visited her sister (Gi) and painted kitchen towels. Ale, Gus and I watched Queer (2024), "I'm not queer, I'm disembodied". I obsessed over Epic: The Musical.

February⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀二月

• Received an opportunity, any sane person would've been over the moon with it, but I'm clearly missing a few screws - So I got overwhelmed and sad and ended up letting it pass. Gabi showed me Alien Stage and it changed my life, fr fr. I showed Alien Stage to Gus and Ale because they are the only two people I can force to watch the things I like, and they are very graceful about it. Went to a sleepover at Gabi's in which we barely slept, played board games, talked about random shit and had a generally great time. I wish I knew how to make friends with new people. This month, I desperately needed a year-long break.

March⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 三月

• Made Igor watch Epic: The Musical, and now he appears from time to time in my inbox crying about Polites (I understand). Also, I made Igor watch Alien Stage because why not. I was invited to Gabs' brother-in-law's birthday! It made me really happy! I thought he didn't like me! Afterwards, Ale and I drank a bottle of wine each, and we had lots of drunk conversations - I have a particularly funny video of my cat sleeping while heavy metal plays in the background, which I have no idea why I recorded. Made plans to travel in June, but it didn't work out. I ate some Arabic sweets I've always wanted to try, and it was low-key the best day of the month. I got very into SVSSS.

April⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 四月

• My mom, Gabs' mom, Gabs' sister, Gabs and I went to the mall - it went as well as I expected it would. Sadly, my cat died, and the month devolved into chaos soon after. I don't remember shit about what happened. I read Given's manga in a weekend and - in hindsight - it's kinda funny because the manga is about grief and I was kinda grieving, right? There's a particular scene in it where Mafuyu remembers one of his dates with Yuki at the beach, and he speaks about how he'll forever remember it, but will also forget what colour of clothing they were wearing and at which bus stop they arrived... And it's kinda scaring, realising you're losing someone like that, little by little. Since then, I'm trying to remember the stories my stepdad used to tell me, so I can write them down and hold on to at least this little piece of him, if nothing else.

May⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 五月

• I literally have no idea what I did this month, but I'm pretty sure I missed class for - like - 4 weeks straight. Just remembered I had an exam in which they put a camera in my nose that went down to my throat, and then the doctor showed me the recording so I could see the inside of my nose and my vocal cords, which was pretty neat. Sadly, I couldn't keep the recording.

June⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 六月

• I played Baldur's Gate 3. I ignored my responsibilities for the whole month. I played more Baldur's Gate 3. By the last week, I suddenly realised that if I didn't do anything, I would fail all my classes, so I scrambled to finish my assignments and study for my test. I passed with middling grades that anyone else would be happy with, but to me, it only feels like a failure. But also, what did I expect?

July⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 七月

• I bought some games at the Steam Fest, and I got really obsessed with them. I signed up for a Chinese course, in person, to force myself to meet new people. Played some Minecraft with Gabs and Dan. I started helping to fix the wiki for The Sultan's Game because this game is really good and deserves a good fandom. Bought some Chinese food and shared it with my brother. Made some tarot card readings for my friends.

August⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 八月

• Tarot card for this month: Eight of Wands.
• Updated my listography. Prepared my next 101 in 1001 list. Bought a new bag for college, and new boots because all my shoes are going to shit. Played Dream Daddy with Ale and Gus. Talked with my professor about a research project. First Chinese class.
