Season 1

  • ☑ Juno Steel and the case of the murderous mask
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): Hyperion City. Some people say it’s the most beautiful place in the galaxy. The rest of us live there.
    • NUREYEV: Get a good look, detective: it may be your last. I do hope it isn’t, though. I meant every word I said, Juno. It will be quite an adventure. I’ll be waiting for you to join me. Signed, Your Better Half, Peter Nureyev.
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): And in the meantime, sleep; sleep, and the smell of Peter Nureyev in the air. It’d take weeks for that smell to fade. I’ve missed it ever since.
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the prince of mars
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): Snagged it from her pocket when she started kissing back. Learned that trick from someone I used to know.
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): The only door down that end of the hall opened on a staircase. It was very, very dark down there. I ran down. I didn’t want to live forever. Comms went out as soon as I stepped through that door. I was alone... but it didn’t feel like it. In the dim red light, I saw another staircase. I ran down it. Then another below that. The noise kept getting louder, the light brighter. I swore I heard running footsteps ahead of me – swore I could smell that cologne, could hear his voice. But I couldn’t know. Over the echo of my own feet, over the smell of my own desperation... I couldn’t tell.
    • JUNO: I thought I was done with him, but... I’m not.
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): You don’t keep anything you make in Hyperion City... besides enemies. And boy, had I made one of those.
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the day that wouldn't die
    • MICK: Aaaall right. How do you like your whiskey, Jay? / JUNO: With an active desire to do me harm. / MICK: I asked about your whiskey, not your men, but fine.
    • JUNO: Open casket? You never had a shot at that, to begin with. The funeral director’s gonna take one look at your ugly mug and cremate you twice just to make sure nobody ever has to see it again.
    • MICK: You think you’re the only one with problems? I’m breaking the land-speed record on going nowhere, Juno, and I know it.
    • MICK: No, you aren’t! You’re full of yourself! It’s the best and worst thing about you, Jay, for you and everyone else.
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the midnight fox
    • JUNO: The hell kind of a person do you think I am, Khan? Some lunatic comes in off the street and you just assume she’s with me? / RITA: Boss! Hey, boss!
    • VICKY: Look, Steel... Take it from someone who knows. Even if you’re real, real lucky, you only get a few people like Ingrid over your life. Treat ‘em like they’re worth something. All right?
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the train from nowhere
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): Peter Nureyev was his name – one of them, anyway. Back when we met he’d gone by Rex Glass, and within two days he’d stolen a lot of junk from me. A key, a mask, a kiss, and... Eh, forget it. Not this time. I wasn’t gonna fall for it this time.
    • NUREYEV: Tell me, Detective: do you like to gamble? / JUNO: I got in the car with you, didn’t I?
    • NUREYEV: Of course my name is worth something. I cycle those other names out, but by now I’m skilled enough not to leave a trace with them. But my birth name... links me to things it would be best if everyone forgot. That name is very nearly my only weakness. And I’m risking it all, here. On you.
    • JUNO: If I die now... will you shut up? / VALENCIA: I’ll certainly consider it. / JUNO: Well, I mean in that case.
    • NUREYEV: Cheer up, Detective. We stole the weapon once - we merely need to steal it again. It may seem impossible now, but... has that ever stopped us before? / JUNO (NARRATOR): It hadn’t. Not yet. And suddenly, I wished it never would. I wished we could keep on doing this for as long as we felt like - conning Engstroms and stopping Valencias. Running just ahead of the impossible, I wanted to outrun the end of the world with this man, because finally - I trusted Peter Nureyev.
  • ☑ Peter Nureyev and the angel of brahma
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): The way that Mag looked at Nureyev made me feel a little twinge in my gut. Love and pride, and... a little awe? Like he couldn’t believe he’d had a hand in making this human being. Like he was sure that the galaxy would be fine, so long as it had people like Peter Nureyev in it.
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): And then it hit me all over again. That red room. Mag, with the huge owl-eyes. Nureyev. The knife. A murderer. A monster.
    • NUREYEV: You’ll discover it all eventually. There’s no getting around that. So... look through my memories now. Then decide whether Peter Nureyev’s baggage is worth your time... or if you and I part ways, once all this is done.
    • NUREYEV: I don’t know what it is you saw in there, but... I’ll be back. I promise you I won’t disappear. Do you hear me? Goodbye, Detective... for now.
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): Peter Nureyev is a thief without a home. And he was a thief without a name... until me. Because Nureyev was wrong, all those years ago. He said a name wasn’t worth anything. He said that he’d never have one again... and then he gave me his. A gift I didn’t understand. So who is Peter Nureyev? Peter Nureyev is a man who makes me feel... makes me feel... a lot, okay? And I know he’ll be back, because I know one more thing about Peter Nureyev: I make him feel a lot, too. And why not? Everyone’s got a flaw. Here’s hoping his doesn’t get him killed.
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the final resting place
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): What did I do? What the hell did I do to myself?
    • JUNO: You’re next door to the end, Nureyev. Smile for the camera.
    • JUNO: Mind if I let you in on a little secret, Nureyev? / NUREYEV: You idiot. Juno, you idiot. / JUNO: You’re the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.
    • NUREYEV: You know, Juno... call me a fool if you like, but I think- I may have fallen in love with you. / JUNO: I... If you’re a fool, that makes two of us.

Season 2

  • ☑ Juno Steel and the kitty-cat caper
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): I was cornered. No way out. The people after me wanted to kill me over a stupid cat, and they seemed like they could probably do it, too. Boy, I forgot how much I love this job. Because that's what being a P.I.’s all about. Sign up for a losing battle... then win it.
    • RITA: Well... the records gotta be in their database somewhere. What’s the screen say now? / JUNO: The screen’s blank, Rita, that’s why I called you. / RITA: ...what? Mista Steel, did you turn the computer on? / JUNO: Well, how was I supposed to know I had to do that?
    • BOSCO: Thought I heard a noise, Boss. / PIRANHA: It was probably just your two brain cells clacking together.
    • RITA: Be careful, Boss! / JUNO: Not likely, but I’ll keep you updated.
    • RITA: Mista Steel, you better not be doin’ what I think you’re doin’! / JUNO (NARRATOR): I was. I threw the cat.
    • JUNO: At least she died as she lived. / RITA: Beautiful, distant, and misunderstood? / JUNO: I was thinking more, "Confused and in excruciating pain," but yours will sound better in the eulogy.
  • ☑ Juno Steel and the lesson learned
    • JUNO (NARRATOR): Mick. Mercury. Here’s the thing: catastrophe stuck to Mick like a bad smell, and if you hung around him long enough you’d start to stink like it, too. I wouldn’t say he was unlucky because "unlucky" implies it’s nobody’s fault. Mick’s luck was so bad so constantly that he must have been doing something to deserve it... but I can’t think of anything that’d piss the universe off bad enough to deserve the chaos he dragged around. So no, I wasn’t happy to see Mick, even if he was my... best friend... because it meant that this bad day was probably about to get a lot worse very, very quickly.
