- celebrating Cinco de Mayo with Sydney by making quesadillas and salsa (made of only tomatoes and onions) and dining on the balcony watching the ocean; only to be interrupted by two German men on the balcony next to us who asked if one of us could open their hotel door because the cleaning lady locked them in: "We are, how do you say, in prison."
- the barbecue on the rooftop of the kentro with Tom, Sydney, Melissa, Vangelis, Gerry, Krzysztof, and Gabriela, listening to Krzysztof's funny stories in Greek which he would then translate for S and I into English
- bonding with Bibi over freddo cappuccinos and cookies on our Malia date
- when Sydney and I were trying to fall asleep and we heard the GREEKEST sneeze ever from the restaurant downstairs
- talking and laughing with Sydney when we were trying to fall asleep, and all of our deep conversations, too
- sipping on ice-cold raki at Zorba's at 5pm, wallowing in misery with Sydney, trying to process the secondhand news we had heard from Facebook
- sitting on the pebbles in the Chryssi beach, listening to the small waves lapping on the shore
- getting drunk at the internet cafe with my girl friends, and then having a deep conversation with Sydney afterwards
- ordering the "Lamb of Zeus" for two but actually it was just for me, and the waitress judged me hard; then calling "Lamb of Zeus" the "Lamb of God"
- waking up to the sound of the ocean and the view of the sunrise out our balcony's screen door
- that day when Sydney and I were napping in our hotel room and the cleaning lady burst into our room, the doors to the balcony flew open and it took this woman like an entire minute to realize that we were on our beds; she was standing over me and made super awkward eye contact with both of us; this moment will go down in history
- recording finds at the site
- my last day out at Chryssi, our boat was accompanied by a school of dolphins right next to us
- when the sea was super choppy and Vangelis literally almost fell off the boat
- all of the moments we were sorting plain pottery sherds from Sklavelochori and Costis would quiz me on vessel shape and I would answer correctly; also the times Sydney would ask for my opinion on categorizing a sherd (a true compliment!)
- sorting pottery with my cup of Greek coffee in that blue patterned mug I claimed as my own, and binge-listening to NPR Politics Podcast
- listening to the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack at the Kentro with Sydney and Diane
- going to Mochlos with Sydney and Diane for a sunset dinner just because we felt like it
- when Costis was showing us around the Unexplored Mansion and he shrieked, "SNAKE!!!" and ran away
- sipping hot tea in Costis's living room with his adorable puppy, and warming up from the cool rain
- touring the Villa Ariadne with Costis, seeing the dilapidated swimming pool built for a Nazi, and walking through the beautiful gardens and brick walkways
- seeing unpublished pottery from Knossos, gawking at elaborate pottery shapes and beautifully painted ware
- sitting in the cutest taverna in Kato Chorio, drinking raki, eating mezes, and listening to live music with the locals
- exploring Haghia Triada and being able to identify the buildings and sitting on a Minoan bench
