- ask students more questions and get them involved
- remove exams— they're too much undue stress for students and not great evaluations of what they know
- incorporate small assignments biweekly that allow them to build their grades on not one or two graded assignments but many
- be more patient and understanding with mishaps in following directions or not knowing the proper way to handle things
- don't ask students for proof of ~whatever~ when they are absent; it's too intrusive and stressful
- don't hold it against students if they are absent or they miss assignments; they are adults and they can make their own decisions
- be more understanding of student priorities and workload
- be lenient and explanatory with grading and feedback
- accept late work, offer resubmissions, offer extra credit
- don't assume students understand anything about college, and be patient with them for it
- cut back on readings and incorporate more public outreach stuff (for gen eds)
