• ask students more questions and get them involved
  • remove exams— they're too much undue stress for students and not great evaluations of what they know
  • incorporate small assignments biweekly that allow them to build their grades on not one or two graded assignments but many
  • be more patient and understanding with mishaps in following directions or not knowing the proper way to handle things
  • don't ask students for proof of ~whatever~ when they are absent; it's too intrusive and stressful
  • don't hold it against students if they are absent or they miss assignments; they are adults and they can make their own decisions
  • be more understanding of student priorities and workload
  • be lenient and explanatory with grading and feedback
  • accept late work, offer resubmissions, offer extra credit
  • don't assume students understand anything about college, and be patient with them for it
  • cut back on readings and incorporate more public outreach stuff (for gen eds)
