• California requires two years of residency and self-sufficiency before the first day of classes

HOW TO GET IT

• at least two government-issued documents that demonstrate state residency, at least one of them a year old
  • voter registration card
  • declaration of domicile form (file with the county clerk at start of residency)
  • state/federal income tax returns with in-state residential address

ALSO HELPFUL

• driver's license or state ID
• registering a vehicle
• opening a local bank account
• getting a local library card
• file a change of address with the post office
• have important documents transferred to your new address (insurance, memberships, licenses, etc.)
