  • There Is No Cure Can I offer you a hug and my condolences? It hurts to loose a pet. My dog, Mandrake, has been gone for five years now and I still cry every time I see a picture of him. He was my best friend. The most amazing dog in the whole world (in my opinion) and it SUCKS to lose your best friend. So yes, I'm very sorry for you loss. It's OK to cry. *Hugs*
  • Adriatic I hope it's all right to say 'I'm sorry', though, Defenestration, because I truly am...
  • anamia Oh, honey. -hugs- I'm so sorry. Really, I am. Take all the time for yourself you need. We won't bother you anymore about coming on. Please, though, if you need to talk/vent/be distracted/whatever, don't hesitate to ask. I wish I could give these to you in person, but all I can do is offer you tea, hugs, my deepest sympathies, and my promise to be there for you if you need me. Love you (NTW) PC.
  • aspiecat I'm very, VERY new here, so I hope you don't mind my saying how sorry I am for your loss. I really feel for you, having to let go of your canine friend, and understand your heartbreak. I still get sad sometimes thinking about various pets who I had to have put to sleep. And it's okay, I think, to be sad. It reminds us that we have a great capacity to love.
  • bluewillow I'm so sorry for your loss, Defenestration. *hugs*
  • krossero It took me far too long to find this thread. I'm so, so sorry, and I know how hard it is to lose a pet you love. If you want to talk, or if you just want hugs, you know where to find me. *hugs* ~Your PLPF
  • Tanwen I hope you wont mind me coming in here. I feel so deeply for you, you see I never ever realised just how much a dog could mean to you till Dinozzo (our Lab) came into the family and he's only been with us for a year. I understand what you mean about your dog being your best friend - they listen to us when we're feeling broken and comfort us in a way only they can. It seems you have some very good friends here, lean on them. ANd a very gentle but hearfelt HUG from me. Take care
  • SpirallingSnowy *hugs* i know how much that hurts - i lost my beautiful spotty girl, Micky in August - and Mum had ot take her up to the vet - i was 5 hours away at uni and didnt know, i had come to terms with her needing us to do that eventually since she had a tumour on her spleen but i feel like i let her down.
    • Micky was 13yrs and 9 months old. we had her from 5 weeks old when she had no spots. She was my confidante, my best friend and im still bursting into tears about her.... It hurts like hell - but it doesnt hurt as much as it did, and every time i realise that i feel guilty even though i know all those things that you said you didnt want people to say. Ive had her for almost half my life.
    • Im not going to say it goes away, cos it doesnt, but all animals ever ask from us is somewhere comfy to sleep, some food, some love, and humans to love with everything they have. And it sucks so much when they leave - but i feel that you can only ever be a better person from having animals in your life. Sometimes i wonder why dogs feel us worthy of their love and devotion - and they give it their all.
    • Whenever we lose a pet, it hurts because animals love us regardless of how we fuck up or whatever we do in our lives. They dont judge, they just love you anyway.
    • *giant hugs* Take all the time you need to look after yourself. And if someone gives you crap and asks why you still have your dogs stuff around, or why you hold onto things, or they say " its only a dog" ( that pisses me off sooooo much!!!) A dog is family, a 4 legged furry family member. Im sorry you have had to lose such a loyal member of your family whom you loved very much. And im sure you probably know most of the stuff i have said but i felt that those things were important to say whether people think about it or not.
    • Ps - my dogs squeaky soft toy dog lives on my bed with my dogs collar around it. It isnt the same as having her around of course, but im a sentimental person. I found that keeping it has given we an avenue that its ok to grieve, instead of bursting into tears when i put washing out. My mum - who was just as attached to Micky as i was - found she needed a "dog fix" a week or so afterwards - she went ot see a work friend who had 2 dogs and they went to the dog park and mum gave them cuddles and pats and grieved like that to start with.
    • Im sorry if anything ive said is confronting etc but yeah. Im just a bit ahead of you when it comes to dealing with this kinda loss. If you wanna talk or anything, just send me a PM. * more hugs and sympathetic understanding*
  • Tanwen I hope this doesn't upset you, I read it on 'Just Labradors' but I was reminded of it when Snowy said that people saying 'It's just a dog' annoys her... here's the link. http://www.dogsinyc.us/JustADog.html *And I freely admit that it brings tears to my eyes *
