I can't quite keep track of which of these should be present tense and which should be past.

  • For years she was the only one who made me wash my hands after using the bathroom and before eating a meal.
  • After Halloween she always had a lot of extra candy because no one came by her house, but she only invited people to have a piece or two at a time.
  • She ate an apple with nearly every meal. She tried to get me to eat the apple slices too, but I didn't want to eat the peel.
  • She claims that she had to stop me from eating flour when I was a very young child.
  • One year recently she asked me to help her clean up her yard in the spring, and I spent five afternoons raking sticks out of her lawn.
  • She took me on a summer trip to Texas, where the Young Eagles permitted me to fly an airplane.
  • Whenever she went swimming, she wore a bathing cap.
  • A few summers she came on vacation with my family and she enjoyed camping and houses on the beach of the Outer Banks just as much as my parents did.
  • She brought me a postcard of grubs meant for eating when she went to New Zealand.
  • Every Christmas she came over to my family's house and opened gifts and ate breakfast and dinner with us.
  • She always called the evening meal supper.
  • Thanksgiving has always been a big family gathering with entirely homemade food (except for the cranberry gelatin) that she and my mother and I make.
  • She makes the best homemade macaroni and cheese. It's the only kind I like eating.
  • Most winters she bakes cookies, but some winters I don't like any of the cookies she makes.
  • She kept a drawing I made when I was three years old on the wall by her door until a few years ago.
  • She needs a lot of help with her Apple computer, but it's usually different from the help my mother needs.
  • The flat roof of her house needs the drains cleaned nearly every time it rains and the water, algae, and leaves need to be swept off almost that often.
