Things are changing. This Christmas is one example.

  • We didn't put up a Christmas tree.
    • Instead we're decorating the mantel with evergreen boughs and red berries. And we're going to have a fire on Christmas morning.
  • We are having Christmas at noon.
    • We used to have Christmas in the early or mid-morning. This year apparently everyone is going to sleep in. That's fine with me.
  • We will be eating lasagna and ham for Christmas dinner.
    • These foods are not generally eaten together and they are not the traditional holiday meal, but I'm doing half of the cooking, so I get to choose.
  • We are not getting gifts from my grandmother.
    • She has not been able to go shopping this season, although she's had plenty of time. Instead my parents are ordering some Harry & David pears to be from her.
