Being caught in the rain is the great equalizer. For a brief moment, nobody is preoccupied with whatever thoughts are flying through their heads. All at once, everybody becomes aware of the same thing — experiencing the same phenomenon in unison. Nevertheless, the budding ethos of materialism has taken hold, sinking its proboscis deep into the collective soil and spreading like a fungus, ever maturing as we all become increasingly intertwined while pulling ourselves apart all at once. Human nature is imperfect and you must inevitably endure pain. You will never be able to permanently keep that which you strive for. Moments of elation will come to pass, but one day, so will you. mar 21 2025 ∞

mar 21 2025 + When existing in a neocolonial nation-state, one must always be vigilant in observing the mechanisms that those who are in power use in order to remain in such a position. Self-defense as it has been taught to us, typically entails retaliation of a physical nature, but when oppression manifests in ways that are not solely physical, we must also utilize alternative methods of defense that not only protect our bodies, but our minds, our souls, and our identities. In order for the state to continue operating under the status quo, it provides citizens with an illusion of safety and freedom. One of the ways that this is done is through constitutional promises to treat everyone equally under the eyes of the law. Of course, these promises are often not met, but the illusion that we are all constitutionally equal lets the privileged classes feel justified in their ambival... mar 22 2022 ∞

mar 2 2019 + I think it’s strange how compassion for other humans can fall in and out of trend. It’s so discouraging to watch how neoliberal ideology has permeated our social structure. Corporations took no time at all to sink their teeth in and co-opt revolutionary terms in order to use them as marketing tools. It seems today as though we’re just kind of floating in this chasm of phrases thrown around to push our consumption that it all now seems meaningless. Which I guess is the whole point but it still fucking sucks nonetheless. It always feels like progress is around the corner but somehow things just keep getting a hell of a lot worse. Selfish nature is not human nature but we have gone so far into the rabbit hole of indoctrination, face-fucked into us by the capitalist system from birth. This indoctrination works so effectively because we have gotten to such a sweet spot in la... mar 22 2022 ∞

"Why do we do the things we do?" she asked me one day while we walked. "I don't know," I replied. There was a long silence that followed — not awkward, rather pensive. The cicadas were chirping at a decibel that seemed to cut through every water molecule comprising the surrounding atmosphere. "Blaming people helps," I said. "I guess," she said, "but can't we break the cycle? Change things somehow?" We found ourselves at a crossroads, the cicadas blaring even louder. I looked left and right, unsure of which way to turn. The cicadas became even louder, and louder, and louder. -- My alarm is ringing and my stomach feels like it just got pumped full of gasoline. I fumble around with my phone to turn off... mar 21 2025 ∞

nov 24 2024 + Colonialism and capitalism are complimentary forces and neither one would exist without the other. The relationship between colonialism and capitalism throughout history presents itself as an unbreakable cyclical chain, seeking to permate all aspects of the global system. Capitalism as a perpetually productive force would be unable to sustain itself without the process of colonialism. Like the relationship between a train and coal, the movement of the train is only as effective as the amount of coal available to sustain its function. Much like there are limits to the coal one can extract from the surrounding environment, so too exists a limit to the profit potential within one’s own markets. For capitalism to continue chugging along, it is imperative that the conductor expand the scope of accumulation. But unlike the quest for coal, capitalism seeks not only the acquisition of material r... apr 15 2022 ∞
