These things have been starting to get on my nerves in the last couple of years. Maybe I'm weird, I don't know.

  • Competition with friends. I admit that I fall into this sometimes, and friendly competition is okay for pushing yourself to be better, but when you're happy when a friend doesn't do as well as they normally do because it allowed you to beat them, that's just not cool. Being happy for friends' failures isn't being a good friend.
  • Obsessing over how well people are doing. I don't care who's on highest honors, or who didn't make honors at all. I don't care what your GPA is or what you got on that last test. You should focus on your own academics rather than caring how other people are doing.
  • Sabotaging other people. Work together!
  • Overloading yourself with APs so that it looks good for colleges. I did that this year, and it was a bad idea. It's not going to matter how many APs you take if you're not doing well in them.
  • People who pretend they don't do any work to seem cool but really do a lot so that they do well. It's not going to get you any friends. Just be honest. If you're a nerd, you're a nerd. So what?
