- After much deliberation, and despite massive opposition from my parents' and friends', I decided to up sticks and move back to Scotland, my homeland.
- and almost five months later, I think it's the best decision I've ever made.
- I started depression counselling again after a 7 month hiatus, following the death of a family member.
- As part of the prize for winning a pub quiz, I went to New York City for a long weekend, where I saw my first Broadway production – The Book of Mormon – which was amazing.
- I started courting a chap called Andreas De Molina, a beautiful Cuban immigrant studying forensic pathology, with him moving in with me a few weeks later.
- I met Jim Sillars, one of my longtime political idols, and had my copy of In Place of Fear II signed by him.
- I was accepted into the University of Havana.
- I embarked on a COMPLETELY unplanned and utterly spontaneous trip of Europe, which saw us (the bf + I) visit 16 countries, travel over 6200 miles, visit 25 cities and spend in excess of £2000, all within 12 days.
- I slept for 17 hours straight afterwards - a new record!
- On the 9th of April I set out for the People's Republic of China, North Korea and Vietnam for the Asian adventure of a lifetime, and I certainly wasn't disappointed.
- I broke up with Andreas on the 3rd of May after a brief (yet enjoyable, I'll admit) 5 month fling, though we've promised to remain friends – let's see how that pans out (!)
- I went to Riyadh, capital city of Saudi Arabia, where I had champagne (alcohol-free, unfortunately) overlooking the city at the 302 metre high Kingdom Centre.
- I went to the island of Bahrain for the day.
- I started dating Ruaridh again, my longtime Irish friend.
- I went to the, in spite of the tall buildings and glamour, thoroughly unimpressive city of Dubai in the UAE for a few days, with additional excursions to Abu Dhabi (which I loved!) and the desert (where fainted).
- I went to Tehran and fell in love with the adhān, perhaps the most beautiful sound to ever hit my ears.
- I got engaged to Ruaridh.
- WEDDING DATE: 21/09/14, my 18th birthday.
- My cat, a British shorthair by the name of Norris who's been in my family for, like, 12 years, sadly passed away after falling from a 6th floor balcony, God bless him.
- I decided NOT to study in Havana. Instead, I'll be moving to Ireland in October, where I hope to find a good college.
