with alcoholic beverages banned, very few tourist attractions and a complete absence of cinemas in Riyadh, we're desperate to leave this city.

• ✔ We'll rent a car, drive the 3½hrs to Al Khobar on the coast of the Persian gulf and cross the King Fahd Causeway to the reasonably liberal island of Bahrain for the day.
• Things to see/do in Bahrain:

  • ✔ the Qala'at al-Bahrain
  • Sheikh Salman bin Ahmad Al Fateh Fort
  • ✔ Beit al Quran
• ✔ After eating in Al Jasra we'll drive back into Saudi Arabia.
• Once back in Riyadh, we'll have a shower, change clothes and go to the Kingdom Centre, where we can enjoy some children's champagne (a.k.a alcohol free) on the 99th floor.
