- let them do something that you hate!
- let them have one positive characterstic
- make them do something in the script
- pahos is optional
- so is lovey dovey tenderness
- the reader should know the character more at the end than the beginning
- the readers should know the character in a way the character can't know themselves
- they should live off the page
- you should know their favorite band and drink
- your readers should "feel" more than "think" about the character
