• even if you're slumming it, you're still seeing the glitzy part of that country. it takes some digging around to see the affects of colonialism, class struggles, poverty, and racism.
  • for their own benefit, the tourism industries will try to cover this up.
  • it teaches you how to live in the moment.
  • some of my strongest memories come from traveling. when i was in bali, i drank coconut water and watched the sunset, and thought, it may not get better than this. and i still remember that, five years later.
  • there are plenty of bad days, rip offs, and people to stay away from.
  • traveling is about self discovery, which is selfless and selfish at the same time.
  • traveling, like school, is a social gathering that's once in a lifetime. it pairs people up who otherwise may not ever talk to each other again.
  • you can discover things that you like that you may not have discovered while permanent. so, i found temples peaceful, but i don't think i would've gone into a temple where i lived permanently.
