• 2017 drawing diary: x

January

• 5-6 | so, hm, I have purposefully not drawn anything in a while (a little longer than a week) because I really needed a break after spending 10h+ in 2 days to finish my previous digital drawing of a cockatoo. But today, I was bored and felt itd be nice to doodle a bit! Around 9-10pm until 1am of the next day. Doodled a random oc, than drew my girlfriend looking at a pic of hers <3 She loved it. Then I used a picture she took in her trip to RJ to practice drawing scenarios a bit! Sketched it in pencil then used nanquim. Enjoyed the result! Then started another scenario but felt too lazy to finish it
• 9 | Drew my oc, Caleb, with an annoyed stance and countenance. Basically, when he started being a jerk. | Then I continued that other scenario (a small garden and an arbor), made details for the flowers and used nanquim for it!! Then, to finish it off, started to draw cute rodents. Drew 3 bunnies and then Lari's guinea pig, Bolinho, using a little tie!
• 16 | I spent basically all afternoon drawing today, from 3h30pm to 7h30pm, in wacom. First, I decided to sketch a random piece that ended up being a woman whose face is half young, happy, proud and beautiful, and half is wrinkled, old, angstied and full of hatred. I started to paint her different 2parts hair and edit the background but it lookes so ugly i gave up lol | Then I looked for outfits ideas in pinterest and decided to practice clothing and digital painting/colors at the same time! Made two figures: one with a cáqui jacket and another one that I still need to finish, which I made some more elaborated painting for. I'm trying to make realistic lighting and shadows and study different shades of colors for it. Decided to use different brushes and textures too. I finished his inner coat, shirt and jeans - now i need to finish his shoes and flannel shirt (I'll suffer with it). At least i'm very proud of the result! I'm doing it in a way so it looks cool and realistic when I take off the linework
• 17 | Continued yesterday's drawing: painted his boots and it looks pretty nice. I guess it took me 30, 40min for it.
• 18 | Drew a lot today too! For 3 damn hours. Pasted a picure of Yoongi and countorned it because i don't wanna waste time drawing it, 'cause my goal is pratice black and white painting today. After that, I filled in some basic shades for each garment piece. Then, I started shading his face and GOD its so difficult. I took so much time to make it look more realistic. It doesn't look like Suga now tho. Meh. Then, I started to shade and outline better his jacket but decided to take a break bc im tired. | Created a new art twitter account!
• 24 | Made some traditional doodles in sketchbook today! Practiced the use of line of action, which I'm not very used to. Made 8 different poses/figures. Some of them are rly funny.
• 30 | Even during trip, i wanna keep drawing. In the hotel room, used my some pictures of my face as reference for perspective studies. I didnt draw myself tho, ofc, just random ppl

• 2 | At 11pm, started some doodles for a feels comic strip, but it ended up more like a lot of text w some figures in it.
• 3 | At 1am, quick doodles for practicing clothes and a girl face
• 4 | For almost 2 hours, while listening to Elvis Presley, made a lot of practice doodles! looked for some ref in pc but barely used it; practiced clothing and did random drawings
• 6 | Drawing in the first day of class this year. Filled a sheet with random doodles as always, not tht good but yea, just practicing bc im bored
• 7 | Tried to make a drawing of sope looking at a pic but was able to only draw suga. It looked nice as a sketch, but then i used pen over it and added some details AND NOW HE LOOKS LIKE AN OLD, WRINKLED MAN :C tried to draw more of him but it looked so ugly i erased it
• 11 | finally made a decent-looking sope drawing!! we learn from our mistakes so i decided to keep it only in pencil. i like its lines, although i dont think they look much akin to suga and hoseok... :c
• 12 | from 11h30pm of yesterday until 1am, digitalized that sope drawing from yesterday. it looked awful at first, but i guess i made it better now. they look more like hobi and yoongi too. | From close to 4pm until around 6pm, used wacom to start drawing that digital sope drawing. However, I tried too many things out and messed up so in this meantime I only got Suga's face done, and it's not even good/ready yet. am i rly suitable for digital drawing, i wonder
• 16 | Downloaded this new free art software, Krita. I hope it has more resources than Paint Tool Sai. Gave a try on it and i suck as always
• 17 | at 2am, more sloppy doodles in this Krita. Made 2 different tests. Idek wht im doing. I hope i get better at digital art soon :c the application is kinda confusing, tho. I wish i had Ps. | sat down to draw at 9pm or something. Finished at 11h30pm or something. Made a cartoon-ish drawing of Hobi using reference for bis birthday, then him as a bunny, then made a drawing of Yoongi i rly like in my sketchbook
• 18 | from 11pm (when i woke up) to 3pm, used wacom to paint my sope drawing. Finished Suga’s skin, painted his hair and his suit. Also made edits in his mouth and now i realize it looks awful (i spent most of the time fucking trying to paint lips on him ughhhh)
• 20 | during afternoon classes (basically 1h30 or smth), drew Taehyung and Jimin using reference in my phone and started to draw Jin. Im rly proud of it! It looks kinda realistic, but in my own style
• 21 | during morning classes, finished that drawing of jin from yesterday. then, during an empty slot in class timetable and other classes, doodled random stuff (a ninja dude (??), anatomy training of bike riding looking at hobis pic as reference, a goth girl)
• 22 | doodles in school books
• 24 | should be studyin but am doodling in pen on my arms and on my school books
• 25 | From midnight until 2am, worked on that digital painting of Sope. But ended up getting frustrated and decided to get things done with; so i finished painting Suga in a kinda sloppy way. Saved it in jpg after fixing his eyes. Im not proud of it at all, so I wont post it anywhre, but at least its done and well, it was a way of practicing, right? I liked the colouring of his clothes, at least | used wacom from 2pm to 5pm today. downloaded a new free art software, FireAlpaca, to try it out, but im so used to PaintToolSai any other programs makes me fail orz Then i went back to sai. Practiced perspective today! In a way i havent done before. Used ref, ofc, but did in my way. Its a front view of an urban street in Japan or South Korea. Also added some sketches of people on it, but didnt keep them in the ending linework (its not good, but its just training.) imma try to paint it later
• 27 | doodles in morning class | at the end of afternoon classes, was bored to death so decided to draw. Used pen in Taehyung’s drawing from last week. Then, drew Yoongi using tht pic of him dressing BT21 Chimmy’s costume as ref. Then, started sketching a skate figure artist (also using ref) | At home, finished the drawings, used pen for it, and then after looking at pictures of her, drew Chloe from LIS!

March

• 1 | Went to the living room, gathered my art material, and, from 8h30pm to 10pm or something, painted w watercolor! All to paint Chloe Price drawing. Im rly proud of the result!! My best painting so far, i guess. Spent a lot of time just trying to get an actually good picture of it for posting purposes.
• 2 | lil doodle in class | lots of doodles today!! it started as simple sketches to distract myself, but then i decided i want to draw my ocs and it turned out as a character from Maresia, one of my story whose planning i kinda put aside for now tbh. even got a name for it, finally. practiced various expressions w him and explored his personality in situations. then, i made kind of a character profile, listing his main traits! char development is great
• 3 | after got home, just added a finishing touch to the drawings w black nanquim
• 5 | doodled my oc, Gray Lee, in class | at night, decided to paint for a little more than 1h, just used watercolor to finish tht suga in chimmy's costume and tht figure skating artist
• 6 | doodles in afternoon classes; more drawings of Gray and one of him holding hands w Tyler; also finished the sketches (made it darker and clearer to see)
• 8 | drawing of a new oc in a big jacket; then, drawing of a girl seen in profile.
• 9 | 1 more doodle of tht new oc from yesterday, started sketching a cathedral (tht one from sp, looking at reference) but got lazy to finish it, then another doodle of a curvy girl.
• 11 | During call w Lari, looked at a pic as ref and sketched a living room; then sketched 2 drawings of chinese dragons, one w ref and the other free-style
• 12 | Tried to draw digitally today... from 8h50pm to 10h20pm. Ended up rly frustrated. God i suck at this. Idk wht to do. I started a piece because i wanted to portray a beautiful picture of Moonbyul from Mamamoo and sketched roughly and started painting her hair but... it just didnt go well. Mixed way too many colors. Also couldnt do anything w her face. Then i gave up on it and started in another canvas a random doodle but it sucked too lol I should quit digital art. Ill never be like other artists anyway
• 13 | just doodled a man in baggy detetive clothes + hand studies
• 14 | just doodles of 2 girls, during class.
• 15 | drew with pen over previous sketches, then made a quick, sloppy perspective training, then drew an anime-looking warrior girl and then a woman wearing a kimono | at home, from 6pm to 8pm, decided to practice digital painting. Used an old sketch of a girl face, fixed/improved it (more like ruined it tbh) and started painting it, applying some stuff i learned from tips videos. Also started using window mode in paint tool sai (now the full version.)
• 16 | from 5h30pm to 8pm, while listening to chill mixes in tv, used wacom and paint tool sai to continue that digital painting of outfit. Continued the jacket. Its chess pattern is very complicated, but i managed to finish it! Just need to add details to make it realistic. Also, improved the linework and some effects | pen doodles in my leg lmao
• 17 | during a short call w lari, spent more 30min in the outfit drawing, underlaying its colors w base hues to make it look better. Im almost done!
• 18 | doodles in my essay sheet. Oops
• 19 | In class, tried to draw J-Hope lookin at one of his pics, but it looks so awful ffs. Not even alike him. | At home, before studying, from 6h30pm to 7h30pm or something, made a drawing or Jin using a random pic of him as reference. I just wanna practice drawing more ;;
• 20 | drew a lot in morning classes. Doodles of Taehyung (one w ref, another without it) in anime style, then of JHope in a yellow bunny costume w ref. Then, in other class, drew JHope without makeup im a big coat. Simple, clean sketch, in a way i havent done before. Finishing touch w black ink pen for it in afternoon classes. Plannin to paint it some day soon.
• 22 | quick sketch of namjoon’s dork face in class
• 23 | drew a whole fucking lot today. In class, doodles of Lana and Gray just to fill in some space left in the sketchbook page. Then, lookin at pic for ref, tried to draw Jhope standing and holdin a mic. The balance and body of the figure is nice but i fucked up w rhe face and it doesnt look like hobi at all. | Then, at home, worked more w drawings for 2 hours. Organized drawings in album and used the chance to finish up w black ink and watercolor one of my full-page sentimental strip. Then, painted Jhope’s cute drawing from Tuesday. | Then, later tht night, because i was bored, doodled the antagonist from Black Panther and Jhope again. Stopped definitely at 8pm
• 24 | did barely 30min of touch-ups/shadowing in tht outfit painting during call w lari
• 26 | so I randomly decided to use wacom for a new digital drawing, instead of continuing my previous painting. Started after 6pm, stopped almost at 9pm. Used a cute pic of Hobi as reference. Hateful of the result and frustrated again, but at least im practicing, right?
• 27 | made a 15min sketch at school, a girl/princess in the patio of her castle??? and a garden outside a fence. Just trying to practice more scenarios, and perspective — even used a ruler for the ground and fence | then, from 8h30pm to 11pm, continued tht digital drawing. Spent some big time editting it and fixing its sloppy face, then did linework (and liked it!); then made an attempt to paint it in a different style, but honestly, it sucks. At least im just trying things out
• 29 | painting with wacom from 11pm until almost 4pm! Altho it took a lot of time, I had fun. Started over the painting attempt from day 27. Painted Hobi’s hair thoroughly, using some tools i learned from tutorial videos, and i rly liked its effect. Also started painting his skin, and finished both his eyes, altho I still need to do some finish-up details in them

April

• 2 | doodles in textbooks | made 2 drawings im rly proud of in class today! One is Seokin, index finger under his chin and smiling ~WORLDWIDE HANDSOME~ that I came up with myself, just looked at some guides to get his features resembling him. Then drew Taehyung, using one of his pics as ref. Im rly proud!!
• 3 | drew 3 cute bunnies, a fox, and then, another bunny: drew Jungkook for the first time! Just a minor drawing using one of his pic w ref, it looked good in pen, but i dont think it looks much like him
• 4 | casual doodles
• 5 | drew more in class!! Im determined to practice more background and perspective so I doodled a scenario: a tv room with a panoramic window and two boys hanging out (sleepover) playing videogames and eating popcorn. Did it in 15min or something. It actually came out nicely! | painted w watercolor today! From 9h30pm until 11pm. Colored that drawing of the princess and a castle and a backyard w a garden or something. Doesnt look that good but at least i got something done
• 7 | drew with wacom today! decided i wanted to digitalize that drawing of Jin and had time to do it for 50 minutes or more before i had to go out. then, when i was back home, drew for another one hour or one hour and a half, doing some edittings and all. was done with the proper linework at almost midnight
• 9 | doodle
• 10 | for some reason i drew a boy on my pc with a random ballpoint red pen i found
• 12 | drew a whole lot in the morning today! traced with black-ink pen that drawing of the boys playing in the room. then, made a drawing of Jin (lookin at ref), then used black-ink pen for it too. in the end, its not alike him at all, but I really like the details of his leather jacket I managed to outline with pen. | still in the morning (by the end of the classes, i had a sketchbook sheet all filled out), made several drawings of undertale! drew 2 versions of Frisk from my mind (a "feminine", and a neutral one). then, the one im most proud of, created a small of piece of frisk x chara, chara in a confrontration stance while frisk is trying to sooth her. i rly liked it ;w; then, doodle of papyrus and sans (lookin at ref.) used black pen for all of those drawings.
• 13 | hp doodles at school today. drew harry potter randomly (it looks nice, tho!, two owls (i used edwiges ref for one - a church owl), a hand brandishing a wand, and an attempt at an hippogriff. | at home, finished those drawings adding pen details to them, and drew another cute owl, the chubby, cottony ones tht seem to hv little horns.
• 14 | drew a lot with wacom today! from around 1pm until 3h15pm or something. editted more details for proportion reasons, then fixed some of the linework, and then painting that drawing of Jin! done with his sweather, I really liked the result. Started his skin as well, altho i feel like i suck in shadowing/highlighting using different hues... well lets see where this drawing will get me. then, digitalized pretty quickly tht drawing of frisk x chara
• 16 | doodles in textbooks in the morning | at home, since i was bored to death, decided to paint a litte with watercolor, just for fun. picked random drawings to do it: that new oc for Maresia i still need to come up with a name for (i rly liked the color palette i used for his jacket and hair), then probably his gf (tht profile drawing of the girl with spotless blound hair, blue eyes and pink shirt). then, painted that random scenario i doodled before, and it looks so much better now it has color. im pretty proud of it.
• 17 | doodles in class today! first, in literature class cuz i was bored to death. decided to create another "oc profile" to the boy i painted yesterday. I NEED A NAME FOR HIM. made a simple/not that good-looking draft of him (wearing his beloved coat) and wrote several itens about his personality and habits and all. then, later, did another oc profile for his gf (i guess?), made a doodle of her and wrote just a bit about her under it. also, when i was bored, doodled an elf (looks like Dobby from HP), a random/ugly/monster skeleton face, and a draft of another creature. then, on the table, doodled a crítica social foda abt the beauty industry (of an anorexic girl or smth.)

• 20 | bought so many art materials today!! 2 new sketchbooks, lots of pen, a new lapiseira, erasers, brushes, aaaaaaaaaa it was great. as soon as i got home, i sat down to test/première my new normal sketchbook and my new lapiseira. made random doodles of a girl, a man in a dramatic pose, and then tried to draw jungkook lookin at ref. its kinda meh but im excited anyway.
• 21 | for almost 2h or something in those terms, made a experimental/practcie painting with wacom today. It's a beach at night, full moon and rippling sea. Played with color composition and I'm finally learning how to make lightning and shadowing effects in paint tool sai!
• 23 | doodles in class! started drawing a black woman from a pic i had saved for reference and it turned out way better than expected! isis, victor and igor praised it a lot. i feel rly proud of it. it was nice to draw her curly hair.
• 26 | drew a lot today!! first, in class, redrew jungkook so i could transfer it to my other sketchbook (the watercolor suitable one), planning to paint it later. then, sketched min yoongi in my regular sketchbook, and it looked way nicer than expected as well. then made shoddy doodles of V tht i ended up erasing | at home, painted a lot w watercolor! from 4h30pm to 6h30pm. paited that hand wielding a wand and its spell w random colors, then painted those 2 owls! one is whitish and the other is rly patchy. it looks rly nice. also coloured the background blue w stars and reflected it on their feathers a bit, also tested my new white gel pen! | then, for some reason, decided to trace tht min yoongi drawing w black pen and, even though the paper is not thick enough for it, pAINTED IT W WATERCOLOR. and it looks so much nicer w color, omg. luckily the paper didnt shred. | international gallery commented in my drawing when i posted it in instagram??
• 28 | doodle yoongi tht i erased, then sketched kim namjoon! it looks cute. i did it in 15min or smth.

• 2 | messy drafts to contrive sceneries during classes, just to exercise creativity. Filled one page of my normal sketchbook with doodles of sceneries - one looks like Blackwell Academy (from LIS) campus, and the other is just a table in a park or something | then, direct-in-pen doodles. drew a dude who resembles percy jackson. | later, at night, during call w lari, traced w pen my namjoon drawing and started sketching seokjin while looking at ref. It looks good! Im proud. I hope ill paint it soon

• 4 | drew a lot with wacom today! From 4pm to 6h30pm! First, trying things out in Hobi’s painting — it doesnt look good, but at least its taking some shape, right? Even started working on his suit. Then i kind of gave up and started working on Jin’s fanart instead. Also bugged w this one. Tryin to figure out a way to paint his skin and face. Its difficult | doodles before going out. Just scribbled a lot of pooches, without ref so it doesnt look great, but its just for fun anyway
• 6 | for some reason i randomly decided to doodle a lot in my bed in the middle of the night tbh. from 1am to 3h30am, basically. made a lot of nonsense doodles, sloppy scribbles, but then gave more effort and dedication to draw a boy (without ref) using hatching technicques in pencil and i rly liked it!
• 8 | drew throughout the afternoon classes using my regular sketchbook. sketched w pencil some boys randomly, just to test and enhance the style changes tht my lines r going under. then, w ref, drew kim seokjin and used namquin over it, using the hatching technique to make shadowing. it looks cool, but not much akin to him - his eyes r kinda crooked, too. whines
• 11 | doodles in class, just to practiced. used one of namjoon's conceptual trip pics to practice a bit of environment and different poses, then drew freely after it. just a dude, then a bored girl sitting on a school chair, chin propped up on her palm. i rly liked the result and the character is well-balanced. maybe ill redraw her in my watercolor sketchbook to paint her sometime?
• 14 | downloaded a lot of reference pictures from pinterest and drew a lot in my last classes. 4 different hoseokies bc i rly wanna learn to draw and picture his features right, some using reference and some relying on my memory to use my cartoon/anime-like style.

• 16 | just because i didnt have anything else to do, sketched as first draft in 45min one of the photoshoots of bts conceptual comeback. it was toilsome but nice at the same time! and i got the proportions right, i suppose, as hard as the difference of perspective was. i hope i can finish the original sketch, the details in pencil and paint and get the final result soon ;w;

• 20 | middle of nighttime and here i am doodling. drew two yoongis contulting at ref (hes so adorable in goth clothes and black cap) in rough pencil-strokes, then an original doodle

• 27 | 1h sketching a new digital drawing of kim seokjin, trying to get his flawless proportions right
• 29 | 2h drawing in regular sketchbook. drew 2 yoongis using ref (one pic is recent, one is back from 2013) and 2 doodles without. then, overlapped w pen all of the drawings in hobi's page and, after a pause to work out and take a bath, in yoongi's page and took pics
• 31 | 5 hours... non-stop (lies, pause ot watch a speedpaint)... digitally painting... kim seokjin. wow im so dedicated to shaping his nose just right. proceeded to fix the sketch and then the linework and tackled on the task of painting everything in grayscale and colouring it later, also tested tools to figure out how exactly to do that

• 1 | scribbled in my sketchbook. just a draft/outline for an idea i had, of a boy and a girl sitting in opposite walls in a greenhouse with shelves full of potted plants and a wide glass panel window overlooking the city underneath it. then doodles.
• 6 | drawings in math class! Started Taehyung's page in my sketchbook. Made 4 drawings of him, just one withou ref, and embellished them with my ink pen. kind of proud but not all of them look good. but im tryin out anyway
• 7 | didnt hv much time to do anything else anyway so i sat down to draw!! used those two pics tht r so cute tht inspired me. quick drawing of rap line im excited to paint/imrpove later. than one of kookie with namjoon thats also very cute, and a good excuse to try out illumination when i paint it. then i looked for pics of troye sivan and started to draw him but stopped cuz it was late
• 8 | i painted a lot today: accomplished goal of finishing that painting of the scenario of 2 boys playin video game i sketched back in april! plUS the bonus of painting a drawing of jin - it lookes so much simpler without color. its special now. it took me overall from 6pm to 8pm i think.

• 12 | a really soft sope drawing i made out of nothing during class, without ref and using my anime-ish style. its just hobi clinging to yoongi. also ventured to paint them w colour pencils and it looks better than monochrome anyway. | during afternoon classes, also started to make another sope drawing after finding a ref, buuut i got interrupted a lot and it wilted my motivation down also i keep ruining yoongi's features lmao
• 13 | in class, another soft sope doodle without ref!! it was rly a first pencil sketch tho, rly quick
• 14 | also in class, continued the sope sketch from yesterday, touch-ups with pen, and then decided to colour it w pencil! yoongi's body looks kinda off-proportions but thts alright. i rly like how jhope looks tho.
• 17 | digital painting w wacon today!! progressing in jin's portrait! from 3pm to 5pm. fixed his face proportions, cuz it was a bit unsquared, retouches on his nose and blended shadowings on the right side of his face. then, i spent lots of time in his neck and chin holy fuck. but the results paid off so im happy!!
• 20 | practice doodles in class in order not to get rusty. drew girls bc i dont often do it. practiced a bit of eyes, clothings and legs - drew a pair of legs sitting on a bench tht made me happy. then i sketched another sope drawing djhgsdgjh someone save me from these two. also without ref and in my style. it doesnt look much like them, tho, i guess. meh.
• 22 | lots of art today! fiNALLY used for the first time tht oil chalk packet i bought in sp, for an experimental colouring of a sketchy landscape. it looks rly blurred and floury but its nice bc i got to know how it works. then added details in pen to tae drawing. | then, around 9pm, more art! fixed some stuff in a jk drawing from april and then painted it w watercolor! it took me some time but im happy bc im finally working towards improving background! his face doesnt look much good but whatever. im still striving! done around 11pm.

• 27 | struggled a LOT with a drawing today. O rosto do Hobi tá tão desfigurado que chega a ser asqueroso, como se ele fosse um alien ou algo assim. Eu n sei desenhar as feições dele nessa foto e me arrependo profundamente de tê-la eleito como referência. | Anyway eu desenhei mtao hoje. Ainda na aula, esbocei a foto do doggo cercado por birbs. E depois, ainda na aula, terminei o último rabisco de sope e colori com lápis de cor e retoquei com canetinha. N tá bom mas é alguma coisa pelo menos. E aí eu fiz vários practice doodles: desenhei um braço, um dedo, um cara segurando uma arma/posição de ataque, depois fiquei observando meus colegas de sala para usar a posição deles de estudo pra praticar e rabiscar pernas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ | ai, enquanto assistia o jogo da copa, continuei a pintura digital do Jin por umas duas horas, focado principalmente em pintar a boca dele

Anyway, desenhei na aula de tarde hoje — tentei consertar o rosto do Hobi daquele desenho complicado, debalde. Depois eu decidi continuar a preencher aquela página pro Troye e comecei um desenho novo nele, bem rascunhado, usando uma ref bonita.
