- i'll always put their artwork & grades on the fridge
- i'll create journals for each of them and write every day
- on their graduation, this will be part of their gifts
- i'll dance with them barefoot in the rain
- i'll encourage make-believe
- i'll encourage them to read classic books, watch excellent films and listen to best types of music
- i'll encourage them to volunteer, whether it be at an animal shelter, a soup kitchen, etc.:
- i'll teach them to give back
- i'll expose them to culturally different people and places
- i'll fill bookshelves with Saint-Exupery, Wilde, Gombrich, Carroll, Lewis, etc.
- i'll foster healthy eating habits without depriving them of childhood treats every once in a while
- i'll foster their creativity and imagination
- i'll give them elegant, classic names, with, at least, one middle name
- i'll go butterfly hunting with them
- i'll go camping - in the backyard, at a camp site, in the woods, in the living room - with them
- i'll go for walks in the country collecting treasures and identifying tracks with them
- i'll go on trips to castles & coves & forests with them
- i'll have them help me cook
- i'll help build their self-confidence in every way:
- i'll teach them to respect themselves and others above all else
- i'll let them dress themselves as soon as they can
- i'll let them get dirty
- i'll let them run barefoot in the rain
- i'll listen to them
- i'll never be too strict, but i'll never let them get away with not doing what i asked them to do
- i'll not clean their room for them, but i'll help
- i'll not do their homework for them, but i'll help
- i'll not fight with their father in front of them
- i'll not impose your religious beliefs or lack there of on them:
- i'll let them decide for themselves
- i'll not let them have cell phones or use the internet at a young age
- i'll not let them sleep in my bed (only in special occasions)
- i'll not spank them or use any other kind of physical force against them
- i'll not talk to them in "baby-talk" once they're no longer babies
- i'll not tell them that Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, etc. aren't real:
- i'll let them believe, 'cause reality will ruin it for them without my help
- i'll not yell at them
- yelling is never the best way to convey your anger
- i'll play with them
- i'll read to them & let them read to me
- i'll speak in english & in what little german i can (accurately) remember
- i'll take pictures of everything
- i'll take them to museums & ballets & orchestras & the library & zoo
- i'll tell them how much i love them every single day & tell them how beautiful they are
- there will be grandma's on sunday
- there will be no ban on any words, since the age is suitable, because language is too beautiful to be censored
- they 'll have obligatory piano/guitar & ballet/rugby lessons for at least 5 years
- they 'll have one tv
- i'll limit and restrict television viewing
- we'll have a pizza night
- we'll have picnics, lots of picnics
- we'll have puppies (or rather, buy/foster/steal puppies)
