- there she goes — sixpence none the richer. for a girl/girl romance movie.
- you're mine, you! — chet baker. for a horror movie. the lyrics of this song are so disturbing and they're delivered so sweetly and romantically.
- black coffee — sarah vaughan. for the opening scene of a noir movie. the protagonist would be walking around the city while this song plays.
- angelina — pinegrove. for the end credits of a romance movie. how'd you get so tangled up in my life?
- mascara — deftones. scene in a movie with two people who HAAATE each other but have to be together. they may be a couple or ex-friends or detectives assigned to the same case. i can imagine this playing while they're working silently next to each other, avoiding each other's gaze.
- the world we knew (over and over) — frank sinatra. this song is so amazing and cinematic it would fit in so many different situations... but a scene of the protagonist walking through the city at night is a safe bet.
- is it really you? — loathe. for a neo-noir or thriller movie with a driving scene in a city at night with neon lights, think fallen angels.
- when the levee breaks — led zeppelin. for a scene where the protagonist is travelling, maybe hitchhiking or riding trains around the country.
- here comes your man — pixies. i think this would go hard for introducing the mastermind or pivotal character of a heist or crime movie. too on the nose?
- blow up the outside world — soundgarden. training montage or any other montage that shows the preparation / build-up to the climax of the movie.
- day stalker — carpenter brut. john wickian fight scene, maybe in a cyberpunk movie.
- ain't talking bout love — van halen. car chase scene. no other correct answer.
- angels don't kill — children of bodom. melodeath always makes me think of dark high fantasy, so i think a scene with a knight either fighting or going to fight would go hard with this. i also really enjoy time period - soundtrack dissonance.
- nightmares by the sea — jeff buckley. a psychological horror movie. ohhh this song is so beautiful but has that slight dissonant and uneasy feeling it would be perfect. i could see it being in a movie like hereditary. beware the bottled thoughts of angry young men.
- western nights — ethel cain. ms. cain is so good at creating her own stories in her music, but i think this would be perfect for a movie where it's two young people from a small town on the run driving across the countryside, with some rotten relationship dynamics.
- obsession — thornhill. chase scene in a horror movie. the protagonist throwing stuff at the antagonist and fighting them off with makeshift weapons while this plays oooo it would be so cool.
- discipline — nine inch nails. this is weirdly specific but this would be so good in whiplash. particularly the scenes where andrew is practicing.
