Whatever it is you want to learn to draw, learn the:

  • Perspective for it
  • Life study related to it
  • People and pose study related to it
  • Light study for it (form, then volume, then placing shadows etc)
  • Layouts/Panelling related to it, so copy comics (includes manga/manhwa/manhua)
  • And (privately) copy from other artists related to it
  • most importantly: draw cringe on purpose to help you get over the awkwardness and then go from there

January - January is a quiet month in the vegetable garden. It's all about getting ready for the growing year by planning what to grow and making sure everything is in place. In dry spells its good to get out and tidy existing beds and tubs. Cut down dead growth and pull out weeds. Dig over the soil if its not too soggy.

  • Week 1
    • At the allotment continue to dig over beds if weather is mild and soil not too wet. Leave the soil in big lumps for the frost to rain and break down.
    • This is the time to start planning what to grow this year. Make a list of your favourite fruit and vegetables and decide which ones to try.

Popular Culture as Source Material

Urban and gothic horror stories are an important part of modern popular culture. In fact, in many ways, Vampire: The Masquerade is itself a grand synthesis of modern horror tropes. Casting a wider net: most book, film and TV libraries are full of useful reference points that can be used to make your Vampire games more colourful or give them an edge.

    • On vampires in literature, key touchstones include Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Salem’s Lot by Stephen King, Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and the many works by the authors Anne Rice, Poppy Z. Brite, and Charlaine Harris. The seminal graphic novel 30 Days of Night and other works by Steve Niles should not be overlooked.
    • On vampires in film, beyond the many screen adaptations of Dracula, also see The Hunger (Tony Scott, 1983), Near Dark (Kathryn Bigelow, 1987) , The Lost Boys (Joel Schumacher, 1987), Byzantium (Neal Jordan 2012), Only Lovers Left Alive (Jim Jarmusch 2013) and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Ana Lily Amirpour, 2014). The Swedish language film adaption of Let the Right One In (Tomas Alfredson, 2008) is also excellent.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DRY BRUSHING?

Like most beauty trends, there have been some pretty big claims made about body brushing. Die-hard fans swear that 5 minutes a day is all you need for smooth, glowing skin and reduced cellulite. While we’re much more in favour of embracing your soft bits – nothing will get rid of cellulite entirely – regular exfoliation and massage does have its benefits.

The brushing helps remove dead skin cells and ingrown hairs for skin that feels smoother, and massage is said to help boost circulation and stimulate your lymphatic system – the vessels beneath your skin that help the body detoxify. This, its devotees claim, results in everything from glowing skin to an energy boost. And all for a few minutes a day? We think it’s worth a try.

The UV index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks towards the end of June). Indices of 9 and 10 are common in the Mediterranean area.

(NB: At the end of May and start of June, indices of 8 in the UK have already begun to show, covering most of Southern England. Source: Met Office forecast)

In the UK, the sun's UV rays are the strongest when the sun is highest in the sky between 11am and 3pm, from [mid March] to late September. During this time, the sun can be strong enough to cause sunburn.

💣💥 The 3-part warmup checklist you should work through before doing push-ups

www.wellandgood.com

Even though a trainer may instruct you to drop down and give them twenty, it's not so great for your body to go from zero to 60 push-ups. There are many muscles and joints involved in executing an upper body exercise—like the push-up—and dynamic warmups are incredibly important to work through beforehand so that you don't wind up hurting something. To nail the push-up and get better at it, you're going to want to work on three key areas.

"Lengthening your muscles is so important, if not more important than strengthening them," says Devan Kline, CEO and co-founder of Burn Boot Camp. "For instance, a total of 17 muscles and joints attach into the shoulder blades, or scapula." He strongly recommends mobility work that ...

The Good Housekeeping Institute recommends the following as the correct order in which to wash up kitchen items (after clearing envelopes/keys/food away):

  • Scrape off as much food debris as you can. Give each dish a quick rinse before stacking at the side of the sink ready for washing.
  • Soak by filling really grimey items such as pans with hot water and put them to one side to soak.
  • Clear up by making sure your sink is clean before you start. Using a plastic washing up bowl uses less water and helps to protect items from the sink's hard surfaces. If you don't have a double sink, the gap between the bowl and the sink means you can still use the hot tap for rinsing.

  • Mugs & Cups
  • Saucers & Side plates
