goals

  • Wasn't very successful in completing my goals, but I'm hopeful and looking forward to a focused and acomplished 2023!

art

  • This was a good year art-wise! I greatly improved in realism and developed my art style to a point I’m happy with. Finished lots of enjoyable projects this year, too. So glad I started sewing again.

reading

  • I’m actually embarrassed. I told myself that I was going to start reading again this year, but I failed. The only reason I reached my (extremely reduced) goal is because of those damn Junie B. Jones books I read. Oh well. It’s a little humorous, honestly. I pinky promise I will reach my goal without reading children’s books next year.

    • Obviously, I normally don't add notes on the books I read, but I just think you should be aware that I really despise this book. Maybe I'll go in-depth about it sometime, I don't know. (Update: here’s a brief list of reasons why this book makes me want to blow my brains out.)

  • At the beginning of the summer I volunteered as a helper for the arts program at my church's Vacation Bible School. Throughout the week, I had grown particularly fond of a little girl names Terese due to how cute and funny she is. She is four or five, and every time I talked to her she was super upbeat and happy. Without fail, she would always tell me, "My mom's name is (I hope I'm remembering this correctly...) Morgan and my dad's name is George. But not the monkey, George, the human George. And then there's the stuffed animal George." On the last day, I went up to her and said, "I'm going to miss you." She said she would miss me as well, and after I asked her if she was going to come back next year, she said no. This caused me to break down in tears. She probably will come back next year and just didn't know, but she is so stinkin' cute and I love...

  • 2022 reflections. — 12/3/22
  • Because the year is about to end, I wanted to go through and check what rambles I have on here before I archive this list. Reading them has—once again—made me sad. I can’t tell if I’m still in the “funk” I mentioned in a previous entry, or if I’ve just changed. I mean, a year is a long time, and I have gone through a lot. On the bright side, I noticed a bit of development in my writing style. One thing that remains constant is my lack of knowledge on how semicolons work; I still love them though! — 12/1/22
