- they are very intelligent animals and can be taught tricks such as fetch, paw, spin, jump, come when called, etc.
- rats are very clean animals and groom themselves about 6 times a day
- rats have poor vision
- rats with pink or red eyes will often sway their heads back and forth to try and compensate for this
- they are colourblind
- happy rats will chatter or grind their teeth
- live about 2-3 years

- broccoli
- carrots
- cucumbers
- chicken bones
- dog treats
- yogurt drops
- cheerios/wheat cereal
- some foods rats CANNOT eat:
- apple seeds
- mango
- oranges/orange juice
- onion
- rhubarb
- licorice
- male rats tend to be bigger, calmer and lazier while female rats tend to be more active and curious; therefore females are easier to teach new tricks
