Facts about Abraham Lincoln:
- Born February 12th, 1809, and died April 15th, 1865 at the age of 56.
- 16th president of the United States.
- Was president from 1861-1865, when he was assassinated.
- He was elected for a second term but was shot (in the Ford Theatre by John Wilkes Booth) shortly after being elected.
- Had four kids: Robert, Edward, Willie and Tad. Only Robert survived into adulthood.
- Was the first president to be assassinated.
- Was the first president to have a beard (to "lessen his harsh appearance").
- Abe was the tallest president at 6'4".
- One week before his death, he had a dream of someone crying in the White House. When he found the room, he looked in and asked who had passed away. The man in the room said it was the president. Abe looked in the coffin and it was his own face he saw there.
- Suffered from deep depression.
- Lincoln was fond of animals and owned horses, dogs, cats and a turkey.
- Used his trademark stovepipe hat to carry letters, bills, etc.
- Nicknamed "Honest Abe", although he hated to be called "Abe".
- Did not have a middle name.
- Was more spiritual than religious.
