- what happened to bennett? we know he abandoned daya and the baby but where'd he go lol. also, pornstache never finds out he's not actually amaria's dad. is she going to turn out okay? if she'd stayed w the diazes it's pretty clear she would have eventually been drafted into the family drug business, but even so, having pornstache as a dad is its own minefield, oof.
- what happened to bayley? is there really no investigation into poussey's death, even one that ends (as it probably would irl) w bayley being cleared of the crime? i know people w institutional power get away all the time w violence/killing, but they focused so much on the riot and afterward that they dropped on the ball on the fact that an entire room of people saw a guard kill an inmate. and there's no followup to that? the police or the doj or whoever don't even want to question bayley? he's just able to disappear like that?
- why was there not more of an investigation into aydin's death and real identity? so a prison guard is literally found chopped up and buried in the garden and the cops aren't all over that/aren't putting heavy scrutiny on the fact that the dead guy was using a fake identity? again, it feels like this plot point was only introduced as an early precipitating factor for the riot, rather than something that would have continuing irl heavy attention and police work dedicated to it.
- will kubra try to put another hit on alex? alex and lolly were able to initially fool him into thinking alex had been murdered, but aydin's continual and permanent silence will be bound to raise kubra's suspicion. it's v possible he'd be able to deduce or know (thru organized crime connections or, depending on how publicized aydin's death was, literally maybe even seeing the news) that aydin died and alex lived. he's a crime boss and he surely must still have a grudge against alex naming him?
- so the truth about aydin's death will never come to light? alex will walk free for killing him. tbh it was self-defense but even so, lolly takes the full fall for his murder. even tho she assaulted him and put him in a weak enough state for alex to later kill, she will spend the rest of her life believing she holds full responsibility for the murder when the majority of the culpability falls on alex. yes i like alex and aydin had it coming, but it's fucked up about lolly.
- also fucked up: daya takes the fall for humps' death, even though, if i had to hold one person directly responsible, it would be maureen. i mean, she literally gives him a stroke. and suzanne is literally a witness to maureen blowing air in humps' iv, but she never says a thing about it?? are we supposed to assume she never mentally makes the connection? that so much wild/traumatic shit is happening that suzanne effectively forgets? then maureen dies so she can never come clean, so daya lives the rest of her life and builds her identity on believing she's a guard killer (even tho it's a complicated mix of factors: if mcc wasn't on their corporate bullshit the riot wouldn't have happened; if the riot didn't happen, daya wouldn't have shot humps; if daya hadn't shot humps, he wouldn't have ended up in the hospital for maureen to give him a stroke; if leanne and angie/the general craziness of the riot hadn't made medical staff unavailable, humps might have been able to survive; even humps himself is partly to blame for his own death bc if he hadn't made maureen and suzanne fight, maureen wouldn't have ended up in the hospital next to him w a grudge). but it all ends up falling on daya, giving her a life sentence and causing her to break bad and become a prison gang boss. sad to compare daya at the beginning vs at the end.
- most fucked up of all: taystee taking the fall for piscatella's death. this is just a complete lie as she never hurt him but she ends up serving a life sentence bc cindy betrays her to protect herself, but also bc the cert officer who actually killed him will not come forward and his colleagues will protect him. so at this point i guess we're to believe that taystee and cindy's relationship will never be mended and cindy will never come forward and change her statement, focusing instead on reuniting w her family? sad bc taystee had so much potential.
- what happened to stella and claudette? and why do we never see them in max despite two full seasons set in max? btw, what piper did to stella was super fucked up. yes, stella stole piper's money, but piper then planted contraband in her cell and got her sent to max for god knows how many more years. piper also never seems to feel remorse for it, and it's never brought up again.
- many people also ask: what happens to karla, shani, maritza, red, and lorna? i think the show implies certain fates for them.
- karla probably dies. she's hurt pretty bad and stuck in the middle of the desert. the leader of the migrant group says he'll try to come back for her, but it's extremely likely he was abandoning her and saying that to put her at ease. plus, so many of the fucked up things that happen on this show are there to teach us about real-life ways that the justice/carceral/immigration systems are broken. immigrants die irl trying to cross the desert.
- shani is deported to egypt, where she will likely face violence or even death, perhaps at the hands of her own family, for being a lesbian. her father literally said as much. i want to believe she ends up happy tho.
- maritza is deported to colombia. i think she will survive and eventually find a niche for herself, as we see in her backstory that she can be pretty smart and savvy.
- red and lorna will probably languish in florida for a long time and not receive help for their various mental issues. again, it shows how mental healthcare in prisons is a shitshow, that inmates will be medicated to keep them docile but that their underlying problems will go unaddressed. at some point red may get a compassionate release. lorna will probably also finish out her sentence and go back into the world still relying on her delusions as a coping mechanism and replicating the problematic relationships she had in the past. at least red and lorna still have each other? :(
