    • the idea of "owning" a sentient creature is not the vibe
    • would rather say "human," "parent," "caretaker" etc

    • idk this is too cutesy for me n i feel like it somehow undercuts the complexity / wildness / ineffability of animals
    • would rather just specify the animal or say "companion animal"
  • hobby
    • again i feel like this minimizes the passion / dedication u can have for activities that don't make u money
    • don't have a good alternate term for it but i just specify the activity or ask someone what they like to do outside of work

    • as if yr most significant / fundamental activity is yr method of surviving under capitalism :(
