- honesty. i acknowledge the need to lie in order to protect oneself in certain situations. but lying to the people who matter, especially about one's true feelings and intentions, never leads to anything good. relationships based on honesty are the only worthwhile ones.
- authenticity. one should do the things that make sense to them, regardless of whether it fits into common definitions of worthwhile, dignified, or successful.
- vulnerability. the only currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with each other when we are uncool.
- tolerance. you've got to let people groove and then blow up. everyone is different.
- equality. equal access. no one is better. collective advancement is the only real advancement.
- contemplation. creativity is overrated. life is to be experienced. creativity is misunderstood. experience is creative.
- diversity. fuck notions of good and bad. we are all going to die and the only point of life is to be who we are.
- if something is honest, authentic, vulnerable, not mean, accessible, and unique, who the fuck cares if it's "good"?
- loyalty. love isn't fleeting. it's deep and it shapes a person's life. stay loyal to loved ones. work things out.
- mutual support. strong individuals are a product of strong communities. strong communities are made possible by loyalty and mutual support. yes, a family can be a community of sorts. yes, there can be many other types of community.
- simplicity. minimise effort and suffering and you'll maximise happiness. happiness is natural - there are only obstacles to happiness. quit striving.
- beauty. beauty of sensation is why i'm glad i'm alive. i want to live surrounded by all kinds of beauty, simple beauty, natural beauty.
- clean living under difficult circumstances. life is cheap and absurd and the idea of living it honourably seems megalomaniacal to me. so how to feel clean? know what you like, cultivate an inner life, and learn to differentiate between when you need to be persistent and when you need to leave. always keep the belief that there are alternatives.
