  • milk and honey - Rupi Kaur. Probably the first poetry collection I have read in a while that I...didn't really like? Or connect with? I greatly respect the author for sharing her abuse and raw emotions. I think I just found this book at the wrong time. When I'm older perhaps.
  • Kafka on the Shore - Haruki Murakami. I'm about halfway thru this book (jan 31), and it such a surreal atmosphere that settles in your brain. It feels like everything that happens is completely normal, even talking to cats. Kafka is super likeable, and things just...it's like you're floating when you read it. very philosophical as well. "responsibility for your dreams" (Feb 4) I guess you could say that escalated quickly. My brain started to go haywire with theories and I was only slightly disturbed to put it lightly. It makes ...

  • Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (made me sad, really made me wonder about missionaries in Africa and other parts of the world - how they were instrumental in making "things fall apart" for Okonkwo, the unstoppable warrior who couldn't fight against their influence. Well-written)
  • 1984 by George Orwell (captivating, lots of Portal and other dystopian novel vibes, but obviously one of the originals. Chilling concepts like "newspeak" where the people will eventually not be able to explain justice, love, or fight back against the Party. So good.)
  • The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway (reminded me so much of BWCA and that struggle to survive/meet your goals, i loved the relationship btwn the little boy and the "old man" - the dialogue felt strange but nice.)

  • And I'm on my back, on my back again. Words we had to describe the same feeling~ all without a meaning~ (Young the Giant, Art Exhibit). Favorite of all time
  • What was your question? Love is the answer. (All My Stars Aligned. Mist mystical, i love this it makes me think of the entirety of my life in alignment with my grandma's. Really beautiful. Poised with meaning, but you don't have to explain that meaning.
