- ask WHY you're doing something instead of HOW
- you never know when your greatest competitor could be your greatest collaborator
- make your messages meaningful by removing your agenda
- hold your tongue and HUMILITY/wisdom
- what message does flattery send? not always good.
- gaining influence--- setting yourself apart.
- you can't react like anybody would
- competition for attention is constant, you need moments to show yourself altruistic and trustworthy
- influence requires a gentle hand
