part of my job entails working with kids, and there's a book called "ask me" by antje damm i stumbled on in our day care facility. the questions are designed to spark simple dialogue with your kidlets to help develop some starting cognitive reasoning. i, of course, thought it was a great listography question!
- the book here at amazon
- my friends and my family - they make me feel safe. i am a very tactile person and constantly need to touch a shoulder, wrap an arm around another, and high five. it makes me feel like i belong, in a way.
- small babies (newborns/infants) - every time i hold one, i get this urge in wanting to protect them forever from the ugliness and sadness of the world. even though they're not mine, they make me feel like i could actually be a mom. and, they are just so soft and fragile.
- toddlers - i love carrying kids when i play with them, swinging them around and lifting them up. their innocence and energy seems to illuminate from them into my skin when we touch, and i love it when their little arm hooks onto yours.
- warm laundry out of the dryer - it's so clean, and feels like a fresh start. when i was little we didn't have a washer and dryer, so my parents took us along to the laundrymat. they'd wrap us in the comforters straight from the heat.
- fresh vegetables - i am a huge food appreciator and love chopping food to make a meal, especially if i'm doing it with other people. something about being apart of something bigger.
- faces - i only do this to people i truly know/love. there is something so beautiful about a face, the way we all have the same features but it's the order and placement that determines the attractiveness. you can tell a lot about a person by their face, particularly with their eyes. i can't help but touch it with my fingers.
- skin - similar to faces and my friends, i love the contact of skin-to-skin relations, both of the intimate and friendly kind. i think a sort of radiancy happens when you can connect with someone with their skin, regardless if it's because of a romantic or a compadre encounter.
- the bellies of animals - they love it, and so do i.
- water - mostly in pools and the ocean, it makes me feel so free, weightless, and adventurous. the salt/chlorine smell associated with this only amplifies the experience.
- art supplies - maybe a huge reason why i am an art major, i love diving my hands into paints and oils and inks and anything else to produce something fun. it's the most basic idea of creating something using only you and your mind, and the tools there to help supplement. this extends to my camera, which i've been with so long it's more or less an extension of my body.
- pretty fabric - because, well, it looks pretty and i want to!
