there are many...
- hannah - when i was a little little kid. in the spanish language, "J" is pronounced with a "H" sound (like "heeeey"), and neither of my grandparents could say my full name ("jennifer"); they would say "hennifer." to make it easier, my mom called me "hannah" and to this day, i feel i have a dual life because of the name difference.
- jenny - middle school. i actually hate this nickname now, but some of my family still calls me this, as well as by my full name.
- jenzabenz - middle school and on. this is a play on "jenn" and the "z" in my last name. my dad can take all credit for inventing this one. when i was in elementary school he actually told me i had a sister named mercedes (benz...), and i totally believed him. jerk.
- jenz, jenzy, benzy - all play-off's of jenzabenz. most of my friends since high school and up to now call me some variation thereof, and it's what i prefer most of the time. a lot of my blog and music network stuff is by 'jenz.'
- jenn - mostly at work work. if you know me well, you'll call me by one of the above, but 'jenn' seemed more appropriate in a formal atmosphere. most of my jobs and people i've worked with in a non-casual, non-music related way call me jenn.
- mijas - my parents. it is a slang word combining "mi" (my) and "hijas" (daughter) together as a term of endearment. some of the aunties and grandparents i am particularly close with also call me this.
- babykins - my dad. i will never grow up in his eyes.
- mama chiquita - my mom. according to her, i am the "baby of the mama" (what that traslates into), and therefore 'precious' (i know, gross, right?).
- jennface - my brother. creative, i know.
- z - jeremy, jenn, occassional randoms. a play on the "z" in "jenz." cute, no?
- cookie pie - morgan. we spent 80 million hours together during the weekend of the treasure island music festival, and this was one of the food booths' awnings. it stuck.
