trying to read more in '07...

  • "about a boy," by nick hornby. hugh grant had to have been in mind when the novel was penned.
  • "san francisco noir," collection of short stories, various authors. gave to josci. snow leopard, damn girl.
  • "don't take me the long way," by mc mars. well written and gave me a newfound respect for cabbies. fuckin' george clinton!
  • "my horizontal life - a collection of one-night stands," by chelsea handler. the woman is fucking hilarious and though i thought her sketches on the leno show were so-so, her e! show looks fantastic. a must-read to feel better about your own sexual escapades.
  • "chronicle of a death foretold," by gabriel garcia marquez. i am falling more and more in love with his diction and seemingly whimsical yet realistic storytelling. definitely, one of my favorite authors right now.
  • "tales of my melancholy whores," by gabriel garcia marquez. wow. just...wow.
  • "best sex writings 2005," edited by violet blue. some fucking fantastic, creative, and honest erotica. it's not porn. it's something much more valuable.
  • "the unthinkable thoughts of jacob green," by joshua braff. i don't think i laughed so much at jewish references and the need for a penis to be "unfilled." witty and brutally honest about a teenager'a plight for freedom.
  • "best american erotica 2005," edited by susie bright. it's not porn, but it's not dickinson. these stories beautifully weave seduction and heartbreak in such a way of cohesion, you hardly think of the pumping as sexual.
  • "the little prince," by antoinne st. exupery. (sigh) this book makes me cry so hard in the end, and it was especially poignant that i re-read this now - the first/last time i read it, i was 17 years old and a senior in high school...being 22 and going through a rough patch, it's confirmed to me why this will always be one of my favorite books. so amazingly simple for something so profound.
