- When you're lying it's difficult to tell a story backwards because there's no real memory of what happened. Liars rehearse their story in order.

- When using a polygraph innocent people can fail if they feel an increase in any emotion anger, fear,sexual arousal not just guilt.
- A man charged with rape is more likely to be angry even if he is innocent
- People touch their neck when they lie, a classic manipulator
- Foster: arson and rape have an unusually high correlation, they're both crimes about the assertion of power
- Cal: absence of emotion is just as important as presence of emotion

- Cal: Well, she voiced outrage, and then she slammed her hand down. If she was truly outraged, it all would have happened at the same time
- Cal: Typically only an innocent person's gonna admit to an argument, a guilty person won't admit to anything that would seem incriminating

- Duping delight-the pleasure a liar feels when he sees his lies believed
- The finger mostly done when scratching the nose or touching the face it depicts a gestural emblem, an unconscious gesture with a specific meaning.
