    • Dinner: Nandos ; fruit & herbal liqueurs
  • Friday
    • Breakfast: cheese on toast with cream cheese, pastrami, ham and onion jam ; coffee
    • Lunch: Actually, we went out to Coburger and got burgers and onion rings and shakes
    • Dinner: Feijoada with collard greens and rice
    • Dessert: Pastelnata
  • Saturday
    • Breakfast:
    • Lunch: cheese board
    • Dinner: Francesinha
    • Dessert: Custard, peach and chocolate pastries
  • Sunday
    • Breakfast: I think we skipped breakfast because it all got a bit too intense.
    • Lunch: Calho verde (sp? ; the potato soup)
    • Afternoon Tea: Pastelnata
    • Dinner: leftover Feijoada
    • Dessert: Pastelnata

    • beef steak marinated in red wine, served with fried potatoes and rice or salad. Sometimes a fried egg is added on top of the meat. Rare/medium rare is often preferred
    • feijoada: beef and pork stew with beans and other veggies
    • acorda: dish bread, herbs, eggs and sometimes meats
    • chicken not as popular until recently: periperi and other spicy marinades

salads:

    • tomatoes, lettuce potatoes and onions feature
    • simple farmer's salad: canned tuna, boiled potatoes, hard boiled eggs, black-eyed peas
    • asparagus is a popular accompaniment to mains

  • cheeses: usually eaten separately cheeseboard style. Hard, strong cheese most popular, with spicy variations.

  • wine is most popular, both red and white. Lightly sparkling whites.
