- the Forest Farm seems nice for pigs. Choose that one.
- plant the 10 parsnips you are given. after that, grow parsnips & kale. Make sure to plant any wild seeds you collect, too. I had a plot of about 35 tiles and made quite a bit of money from it. Don't make it too big though or you'll be spending too much time watering it.
- sell most of the crops but save the gold ones for eating. You'll run out of energy really quickly early on.
- start chopping down all the trees and hacking up all the stone on your farm. Sell everything above 450 Wood and 200 Stone.
- re-plant all the pine, oak and maple seeds you collect, wait for them to grow into full-size trees, then chop them down. Or, plant pine cones only and then you got yourself a Christmas tree farm! ahahahha
- you can make the tree seeds into trail snack bars, but the energy from them is quite low. You're better off eating crops once you've grown a few.
- Sell all the Fibre (from weeds) except 20 for a scarecrow and Clay (from hoeing) except 10 for the Silo.
- TIP: you can also cut down trees and hack up weeds around the valley outside the farm. You can get lots of extra wood, fibre, etc from those.

- To upgrade your axe & pickaxe:
- It's not technically necessary to do this but you won't be able to get rid of the medium logs (copper required) and big logs/boulders (iron required). Also, if you have the forest farm, you'll need the copper axe to harvest the Hardwood. This gives you 350g per day.
- NOTE: Make sure to do all of this in Year 1 as the price goes up in Year 2.
- you will need a total of 45 Copper Ore + 6 Coal
- go to the mines on good luck days and just hammer it out. make sure to bring food. you can get plenty on the first 3-4 levels, but you'll have to go several times due to running out of time/energy.
- You can also buy them from the Blacksmith (@ 75g).
- craft a furnace:
- to activate the cutscene where Clint give you the blueprint for the furnace, drop one of the ore and pick it up. The next morning, exit your house between 6am and 11am.
- you will need 20 Copper Ore to craft the furnace. you will also need 1 Coal. You'll pick this up pretty easily from the mines.
- Start crafting copper bars (5 copper ore + 1 coal into the furnace). You will need 5 Copper Bars to upgrade the axe. Take them to the Blacksmith and wait 2 days to return and pick it up.

- working backwards
- Meanwhile, build a silo. Let the grass grow wild and free on your farm, but make sure to collect enough to fill the silo for Winter. Just hack a little each day. Don't hack too much or you'll have to buy grass starter and that's just embarrassing.
- Build a Barn:
- 6,000g
- 350 Wood
- 150 Stone
- Collect all items and go to Robin's Carpentry Shop to order.
- NOTE: I didn't bother to get any cows or goats as it seemed pretty pointless to spend 2,500g and have to wait 17 days before starting to make a profit, when I'm just gonna sell them and get some pigs asap anyway. I couldn't be bothered calculating how profitable a cow is compared to cutting down a tree or going to the mines, but I can imagine the latter is better.
- Build a Big Barn:
- 12,000g
- 450 Wood
- 200 Stone
- Collect all items and go to Robin's Carpentry Shop to order.
- Just keep on doin what you're doin to make money.
- Build a Deluxe Barn:
- 25,000g
- 550 Wood
- 300 Stone
- Collect all items and go to Robin's Carpentry Shop to order.
- Aaaaand, save up all over again for some pigs. Purchase Pigs for 16,000g each at Marnie's Ranch. Pigs take 10 days to mature and start finding truffles.
- ~
- Pigs don't come out in Winter, and you can't grow crops, so I'm guessing you don't make any money in Winter.
