• honour your pace - it doesn't matter if you don't create every day, or for 5 minutes at a time. It doesn't matter if it takes you months to finish a piece. Take the time to watch your creation unfold.
  • deliberately limit your supplies - if you become overwhelmed, pare back to just a few supplies or a limited colour palette.
  • try new supplies & techniques - if you feel in a rut, try something new. A new technique, art form, media, colour. Go somewhere different.
  • let go of expectations - all artists have off days. There's no need to judge your work or how you're feeling when you're creating it. Just go with the flow.
  • listen to your body - maybe you need to stretch, maybe you feel like singing or yelling or dancing, maybe you want to curl into a ball. Try it!
  • try doing a portrait - it doesn't have to look like the person, it can even be abstract. Portraits are a great way to look deeper into human connections.
