    • banana bread is my comfort dessert.
    • it’s soft, forgiving, low effort, and somehow always feels like a good idea.
    • it exists because bananas are overripe — which i still don’t love — but i do love what they become in banana bread.
    • banana bread is also one of those recipes where everyone swears theirs is the best.
    • oil vs dairy free butter.
    • sugar vs maple syrup.
    • mashed vs chunky bananas.
    • loaf vs muffins.
    • chocolate chips: yes or no.

⠀ ⠀ ⠀ was it necessary a whole section?

    • yes.
    • because there are too many vegan banana bread recipes online; because small changes make big differences; because i want to test, compare, and decide which one deserves the crown.

⠀ ⠀ ⠀ how i use this list

    • i collect vegan banana bread recipes
    • i bake them
    • i take notes
    • i judge silently
    • eventually, one of them wins

⠀ ⠀ ⠀ criteria (more or less)

    • texture
    • moisture
    • sweetness level
    • banana flavor
    • how it behaves the day after

⠀ ⠀ ⠀ really important i will always make the gluten free version of the recipe

  • ✦✦✦✧✧ the simple veganista
    • a little dense · balanced moisture · not too sweet · mild banana flavor · soft crumb · add-ins: chopped almonds, chocolate chips · day after: same
  • ✦✦✧✧✧ the best vegan banana bread you’ll ever eat
    • very dense · balanced moisture · not too sweet but i like it · nice banana flavor · moist crumb · add-ins: chopped walnuts, chocolate chips · day after: still dense, NOT a bad recipe, but not the best >\\<
    • spoiler: the gf version wasn’t a match in my book, also i don’t like the kind of coconut flavour from the coconut oil (i love coconut & coconut oil, but in a banana bread i just want the banana flavor to shine, and in this recipe is too overpowering)
