not even remotely limited to austria but whatevs.
- maibaum (maypole)
- tall-ass naked tree that stands around for what exactly? also, they leave them up for years at a time which is not the point at all. but they do be kinda tall though. 2/5
- osterfeuer (easter fire)
- now this is a good tradition! love driving to our osterfeuer and seeing all the other ones in town. just bad for the environment. 4/5
- eierpecken (egg tapping)
- not really all that interesting to be honest. also, there's a trick to it. but i don't know it, so i usually lose. would rather peel the egg normally, thank you very much. 1/5
- allerheiligen-striezel (all hallow's bread)
- super tasty braided yeast bread. 5/5
- nikolaus (st. nick)
- kind of boring, but he does give kids gifts. and it's peanuts and tangerines, so i actually like it. fun for kids, not as fun as an adult. 3/5
- krampus
- scary but fun. classic and sleek design. not super duper scary, especially when chatting with my mom. but a good concept. 3/5
- percht
- scary as SHIT, like the level-up of the krampus. very intricate designs. love the glowing eyes especially. bells are loud as fuck though. 4/5
- christkind (christ child)
- basically santa claus but less fat and more holy. honestly, the realization that it's supposed to be jesus came way too late in my life, i just thought it was a random angel with designated christmas duty. a bit too christian for my tastes. 4/5
