• focus on the action instead of non-action. he sat in the chair. instead of he didn't dance.
• if a scene isn't working: change the weather
• dialogue feels flat? pretend nobody can say exactly what they mean
• be mean to your characters, make them fail.
• in every scene a character should want something

editing:

• use different font
• rewrite paragraphs from memory
