Editorial/Publicity/Marketing Internship The internship program at PublicAffairs aims to provide an overall introduction to the book publishing industry. By assisting the three main departments—editorial, publicity, and marketing, the intern gains a general knowledge of the publication process and acquires a feel for each department’s functions. The intern’s responsibilities include administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting mail, and organizing book deliveries as well as creating press releases, reading and evaluating manuscripts, and conducting marketing research. The spring and fall internships requires a minimum of two full work days per week. The summer internship requires five days per week. Interns are also asked to choose one title per season to read and provide a detailed presentation at the conclusion of the internship.
