MICRONEEDLING
- between 1x/week and 1x/month, as long as skin is fully healed
- takes 1-2 days to heal (or 3-5 for in-office microneedling)
- good length to start: 0.5mm, for thicker areas (like cheeks) you can go a bit deeper
- don't use a roller, use a pen/stamp
- you need isopropyl alcohol (70%) to disinfect
- the less needles the better the effect but the worse the side effects (redding, ...)
Before:
- stop using actives (retinoids (differin, tretinoin), AHAs (glycolic acid, lactic acid)) 3-5 days before
- remove makeup (use oil-free remover!), clean face (also without oil)
- optionally: numbing cream (e.g. lidocaine)
- (disinfect stamp with alcohol)
- put hair up
- use single-use gloves
- (disinfect face with octenisept ???)
- don't have plans the next day
During:
- you can do the neck
- skip area around the eyes
- don't go over the same area twice (?)
- area should become red with pinpoint bleeding
- avoid active acne spots
After:
- don't go into the sun
- don't touch your skin
- for 3-5 days after use gentle cleansers, hyaluronic acid, mineral sunscreen, but still no actives!!! best: only use products that are specifically made to use for after microneedling
- that day, avoid hot showers and exercise
- sleep on a fresh towel/pillowcase
- until healed, don't wear makeup
- skin can peel a little bit, that's normal
